A good part of our last club meeting was dominated by the topic of the police and how they are unfairly targeting bikers. There are plenty of times when they will pull us over for no good reason, then hand out tickets for bullshyt. I was recently stopped without good cause and given $500 in tickets, this was before I even got onto the highway. They're using tactics that put us in unneccessary danger. In addition, unmarked cars pull up behind us then if you try to pull away for your own safety (because you don't know it's a cop) they'll get you for the speeding, evaiding, and everything else. When you get to court and explain that the vehicle was an unmarked car and you thought you were in danger, it's "a wrap" they aint listening...there are plenty of situations we've all been in, so here is what we are thinking.
Between all clubs we have to have connections to television, the papers, any media. We want all the clubs here in New York to come together and form a coalition. We have to make a statement, form a overwhelming presence, and let the authorities understand that we are not targets, it's the only way. One or two clubs cannot make this happen, it has to be a united front.
Depending an the response to this mail we'll setup a meeting with all club presidents, or repesentative to decide on the exact course of action and delegate responsibilites. We have to expedite this process because we just started our season. I don't know exactly how many clubs are on our list so please forward this to other clubs.
