About me: Born in New York, Brooke Smith is the daughter of publicist Lois Smith and Gene Smith. She is also the god-daughter of Robert Redford. Smith married Russian cinematographer Steve Lubensky on January 6, 1999.They have a daughter together, named Fanny Lubensky, born 2001. In May 2008, she and her husband adopted a baby girl from Ethiopia, named Lucy Dinknesh Lubensky. Probably most commonly known as the sole survivor, Catherine Martin, of serial killer Buffalo Bill in the 1991 film Silence of the Lambs, Brooke has been steadily working in film, TV and on stage. Brooke Smith graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and once shared an apartment with singer Jeff Buckley before he recorded Grace. In addition to stage work, her other interests include: filmmaking, she has directed a short film and a feature length documentary, journalism, she has had published interviews with actors Steve Buscemi, Ed Harris and Fred Ward and she has traveled extensively.
