I grew up in the great state of Ohio, home of presidents and serial killers. A gay kid growing up with an alcoholic mother and narcoleptic father, I learned pretty quickly that the so called "norm" wasn't ever going to be a part of my life. I was active in my Presbyterian youth group and went to church camp every summer for 13 years, from the ages of 5 to 18. I also went to farm camp one summer. Farm camp. Early on I discovered a flair for the theatrical, simultaneously loving and fearing the attention it brought me. I decided to pursue theatre when debating college degrees, much to the chagrin of my folks. (The life of a math teacher and animator would have to wait.) I studied theatre, music and dance at Otterbein College. It was there that I got my first choreographic works staged in the college dance concerts, and my first paid gig as a choreographer for a nearby high school show choir. I graduated with a BFA in acting and moved to New York City to try my hand at musical theatre. I was fortunate enough to work consistently as a performer in various regional shows and touring productions. After a year long national tour, the idea of the audition circuit was enough to cause hives. So I went on sabbatical. Still the muses spoke and I began creating and performing short pieces around New York City. I am part of the creative collective Penguin Totem, of which I am a founding member. Some people call me Duck. others call me Taco. And a small handful refer to me as Blanket. My mother has stopped drinking. My father is still narcoleptic.
