"The culture of Africa is not based on economy, it's based on naturalness, being natural. And if you try to put money first before the culture, then you will destroy the beauty of what you wanted to represent." - Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, 1979.

Hey Yall, So, please forgive the date mistake if you got the text message. My final class will be at Embora this Sunday 8/17/08. I have been extremely blessed to have received a grant to travel to Ghana this Fall. Although I am not leaving the U.S. until October, I will be returning to the Bay Area for a month or so to perform in a play and teach some workshops to raise money for my journey. I return to NYC from the Bay in late September and hopefully, will be departing for Africa on October 8, 2008. I will stay for two to three months depending on my obligations here. It's time to get in the wind, so if you don't see me for awhile that's whussup. Hope to see you on Sunday. Please wear all white. Feel free to bring food and drink for afterwards. Class will be two hours long. I could have not done everything I have without the support of Embora, the members of ASE Dance Theatre Collective and the Brooklyn community that has supported my work and vision. If I don't get a chance to tell you before I leave. Thank you. With all the love in my heart. Thank you.
Subdub&Exodus, New Bohemia, Vagabondz & The Doctors Orders have joined forces with Compost Records and the radio show Soulsearching to bring you an incredibly special weekend of music covering the best in Dubstep, reggae, hiphop, broken beat, drum & bass and dance-floor soul music on a setting taken straight from paradise.
The festival site is in the gorgeous surroundings of Petrcane, close to Zadar, A fishing village on a peninsular where the Dalmation Coast meets The Adriatic Sea. For those in the know it will be recognised as the same sight that the Garden Festival is held. It has an outside Amphitheatre for live acts, a Beach Side Terrace for day & night time dancing and a 1000 capacity nightclub for the beats to go on right through the night. At this beautiful site you can swim in the glistening Adriatic, dance on the beach under the stars, join us aboard the swashbuckling Argonaut Boat Party, get your groove on to a Funktion 1 Soundsystem in a retro Studio 54 styled nightclub or relax beneath the pines along the forested coastline.
Other acts confirmed include:
Foreign Beggars Dj Chef/Chefal Bun Zero Ruckspin SMB INC & Medison Fliptrix Mc's Jila Andlar & Gusto + more to follow
