Influences
Too numerous to even start / Just about everything that's good and strong or so subtle you can't put your finger on it....like a great cup of coffee or a good shot of whiskey
Brooks Taylor hails from Richmond,Virginia, a hot bed for musical talent and influences. This is where it all started from the age of six with a professional boys and mens choir to his days and many band configurations in the "Fan" at VCU, The Pass, Hardtimes, The Backdoor, Poor Richards, Matt's British Pub, Mark & Taylor, Piedmont Ramblers, etc. etc., doing the "east coast thing" from Washington D.C. to Key West. He has performed widely in Los Angeles from late night "Hell Holes" to the legendary Palomino Club, The Mint, The Alligator Lounge, Madame Wong's, Ireland's 32, Kulak's Woodshed. Brooks has shared the stage with LA's finest. This train ride will take you from the Piedmont to Muscle Shoals, Stax Volt, Mississippi Delta, Austin and Bakersfield, California. Taylor's self-penned songs take you on a musical trip down the highways of Americana - one strong song after another with great production by Ed Tree @ The Treehouse never stepping on the core of the song. In this corner......lending their talent..... Ed Tree (Spencer Davis), Taras Prodaniuk (Dwight Yoakam, Lucinda Williams, Mojo Monkeys), Dale Daniel (Hacienda Bros.). Brooks is a proud ASCAP member with songs placed on Television and in Indie films. He also writes, records and tours with his longtime buddies "The Skinwalkers", "Rock n' Twang" at its best.
