We are BROTHER AND SISTER!
"Brother and Sister; A sibling duo that is part White Stripes, part Whitesnake and part white noise"-Star Tribune 2005
Brother and Sister was awarded “BEST LIVE ARTIST” (2005 City Pages), “BEST CONCERT WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS” (2006 City Pages), “BEST LIVE ACT 4” (2005 Star Tribune), “BEST SONG 6” (2005 Star Tribune), and “EASILY THE MOST
CONTROVERSIAL ACT”- describing Brother and Sister @ the Picked to Click First Ave concert (How was the Show 2005)
“Sort of a cross between a "Scooby-Doo" episode, a summer rock festival and a triathlon, (Brother and Sister) events have turned into some of the most anticipated live music shows of the year for those in the know.” Star Tribune 2006
“‘Crowd-pleasing’ doesn't even begin to describe a Brother and Sister concert. These kids go way, way out of their way to make sure everyone's having the time of their lives.” City Pages 2005
“Maybe going swimming when it's 55 degrees out is a bad idea, but Brother and Sister can make people do crazy things.” City Pages 2006
“Though the release was by far the most extravagant Brother and Sister show, the concerts are never typical. Even without the scavenger hunt, the band’s shows always include some spectacular element.” Minnesota Daily, 2005
“Michael and Katie Gaughan plan their family-friendly events with the express purpose of having their fans remember.” City Pages 2005
“The Gaughans are musicians, impresarios, camp counselors, presenters of site-specific theater. Brother and Sister, their metal-tinged guitar-and-drums combo, trucks in what you might call rock 'n' roll recess. At the group's shows, audiences have been encouraged to enjoy the set while swimming, skating, or playing capture the flag.” City Pages 2005
“They do a very stripped down and raw-assed sort of garage punk, but thankfully eschew the accepted genre models.” The WIRE Adventures in Modern Music, 2005
“For a band named ‘Best Performer’ by the City Pages last year, extravagant concerts from the group Brother and Sister should come as no surprise. However, this past Saturday the band, made up of siblings Michael and Katie Gaughan, organized an event that surely amazed even the die-hardest of fans.” Twin Cities Daily Planet, 2006
“But in the pauses between guitar-shredding rampages, the audience chatter settled on a consensus: This was the greatest release show of all time.” City Pages, 2005
In late 2007 Mux Mool took on the challenge of making a beat a day for a week. The Drum EP is the result of that experiment, and is lo-fi hip-hop at its finest.
Download it now in zip format, and donate (via paypal) whatever you can, or however much you think it’s worth: $7, $3.50, $15, even $0. The money goes straight into Mux Mool’s bank account, so he can buy some new gear, or cigarettes, or do with it whatever he wants. There are no greedy record label middlemen. ;)
Jon and I went to Palmers after the show at the Triple Rock and I ended up having this really long conversation with a guy about 70 years old who plays the cello. He lives in the big cement apt. bldg. there. He was interesting and had a lot of cool stories. I handed him your CD when I went to the bathroom....I said " Check this out! They are my friends....they are really cool...I'll be right back...hold it for me til I retrun". Then I went and took a pee. When I went back outside by the firepit the dude was gone. I MUST buy another CD from you immediately. Tim PS: I think the old man coveted you guys.
advance tickets are on sale at arise! (2441 lyndale ave s)....the price has been reduced to $5-8 advance due to the cancellation of attila the stockbroker.
