  • Bio

Bay Area musicians thinkin' Harlem in the 40s, the West Coast in the 50s, New Orleans, Memphis, Detroit in the 60s. BROTHERCAT blends roots in Soul Blues, Jazzy West Coast Swing & Rockin' Twang into a stew full of energy and with a deep danceable groove. Like T-Bone Burnett, Plant & Krauss, John Hiatt or The Band they define this thing called Americana by sourcing blues, jazz, rock, soul, country, gospel & swing to honor, show off and save music that needs to be heard again - Louis Jordan, T-Bone Walker, Louie Prima & Wynonie Harris Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Allen Toussaint, King Floyd, Wilson Pickett, Howard Tate, Al Green, Jackie Wilson..... Called the best Modern Blues CD debut this year from a band outta California, "One Life Left" includes the single "Walking By Myself". Its an inspired cover of Jimmy Rogers' 1956 classic done with carefree swagger and a bluesy edge. Whiplash guitar, jazzy soulful piano and a rhythm section with the thump to make you jump, BROTHERCAT is the real deal… ....

LEVI LLOYD on Guitar & Vocals is a blues veteran. He's played with B. B. King, John Lee Hooker and toured worldwide as the longtime guitarist for the Joe Louis Walker. When not with BCAT he fronts an active classic soul outfit, The 501s. Levi's well-worn '68 Les Paul guitar and lowdown vocals tell it all. .... J.B. DAVIS on Bass & Vocals is all about the mix - blues, swing, jump, twang, bossa nova, doo-wop, 3-minute singles & trad jazz ballads. He's played with The Sheiks of R&B, Kenny "Blue" Ray & The Hoorays, the pedal steel led band Tex LaMountain and the Al Kooper produced group Appaloosa..... RON LACEY on Keys & vocals has been playing music as long as he can remember. Jazz piano is his first love but he's done it all in a range of styles but he's also a smooth, soulful singer. He's part McCoy Tyner and part Lou Rawls. Oh and he's blessed with perfect pitch! Ron's passion and exuberance are clear in his playing and in his work as a piano teacher. Once in awhile at Bay Area clubs, Ron does a night of solo classic jazz standards - cool as can be..... Scott "CHARTERMAN" Charter on drums is simply a force of nature. Full of energy and good cheer Charterman may be the world's most musical drummer. He grooves like a son-of-a-gun with snare and cymbal work that pops and swings powering the music along like an engine. He's played with everyone from Andy Williams to classical orchestras. His early work can be found on "60s garage band" collections and still gets airplay. Scott is also an accomplished visual artist.....
