Brother Dan performs most of the time as a solo artist, but has talented friends that assist on his cd projects, and occasionally join him for live performances. Players on the current cd project include: Phil Prunier, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and electric guitar; Harsev Thiara, Jr. on tabla and percussion; Herbie Weihskopf on congas, djimbe, and assorted percussion instruments; Doug Sandall on harmonica; and Joel Edwards on saxophone.
Influences
Brother Dan has been influenced by the listening preferences of his many audiences over the years, and many of the over 1,000 cover tunes in his repertoire were songs requested by listeners. His personal preference has always leaned towards melodic music, with interesting, heart-felt lyrics, and great harmonies. His writing reflects this love of variety and includes songs written in rock, blues, reggae, folk, country, and funky styles. His recordings are largely centered around his own hybrid guitar style, but are also interesting combinations of instruments (percussion, harmonica, mandolin, tabla, sax, flute, and acoustic and electric guitars to name a few) and rhythms. His lyrics center on a variety of real-life issues such as love (love lost, love gained, and love yearned for), religious dis-enfranchisement (he served as minister of music in a fairly large evangelical church for five years), the realization of mortality (he was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in September of 2004, and has since fought it into remission), and insights and perspectives gained from travel and experience.
Sounds Like
Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, John Denver . . . dang, I just realized all of those guys are dead!

do it without feeling better about yourself, the people around you and
the world in general." - Mike S. - Fallon, NV

"As the night wore on I went from thinking this guy is pretty good to this guy is fantastic! Not long after that I moved . . . and now I'm able to see Dan perform at various venues . . . his music not only makes the shows great, but so does his interaction with the crowd . . . fans become friends"

"A consummate performer . . . a gifted singer . . . " J.E. - Tucson, AZ
Lifelong musician Brother Dan Palmer started studying classical guitar at the age of six, and began performing regularly throughout the Midwestern U.S. at the age of eight. He has a repertoire of over 1,000 cover songs from virtually all genres, and has played in virtually every venue imaginable, from passing the hat on the streets of San Francisco to dinner houses, bars, nightclubs, casinos, and has a lot of concert experience as an opening act. (Bands he's opened for include: Men at Work; Three Dog Night; Foghat; The Tubes; Canned Heat; Humble Pie; Black Oak Arkansas; John Nemeth; War; David Lindley; and others.)
Brother Dan's main focus is now his original music, and he draws from his extensive experience to craft well-written songs that have universal appeal. His obvious love of various styles of music translates into hybrid combinations which are interesting and unique, and yet comfortingly familiar, which serve as an excellent vehicle for his at times intense and highly personal lyrics.
Brother Dan's first full-length all-original cd is scheduled for release in the late summer of 2007, in advance of a three-week tour of Germany and the UK, scheduled for late September into October.

Thanks for the add request; I'll happily befriend you. I LOVE your music--your instrumental arrangements, your lyrics, and your compelling voice. :) You had some tall shoulders to stand on (based on your favorite influences), and you've risen to that challenge to create a sound reminiscent of Denver, Croce, and Chapin, but all your own.
I hope you got a chance to enjoy a tune of mine as well. Take care, and good journeys to you!
