Brother Machine is an Austin rock band which, from it's beginning would refuse to be identified. Its creator, Seth Gibbs, is a multi-talented musician, songwriter and producer who reclusively constructs nearly every sound to be heard on a Brother Machine record. Seth is also a partner in Austin's Superpop Records, which gives him the opportunity to take any of his musical ideas from conception to record. With this in mind, it is no wonder the music moves from style to style almost as a stream of consciousness. From summer hip hop jams to existentialist folk durges to electro country punk, the songs flow together seamlessly, finally tied together by thoughtful lyrics that address the unbearable bitterness of life and the unshakeable optimism that accompanies it.
In need of a live outlet for his music, Seth assembled a band in flux, with new and old members rotating from show to show. His co-frontperson Hope Irish, however, has become a staple of the band's live performances and a powerhouse when the two are together on a stage.
