Brother was the brain child of Mike and Mark Magdich, twin brothers, (hence the band's name) and cofounders of the band. The concept, original member lineup and song list were all conceived and put together via telephone and email in mid 2002, when Mark was in Los Angeles, where he'd been living for 15 years.
Mark made the trip back to Fort Wayne in August of 2002 for the debut show to a packed house at a local club. The onstage magic was immediately apparent to the band and audience members alike. Mark soon after, made the personal decision to move back to Indiana and they've never looked back.
Michael Campbell and Richard Whittington stepped into the shoes of the bands original guitarists, little brother Chris Magdich and Lonnie Lemons when they each were forced to leave the band for personal reasons in January 2004. That line up was in place until March 2008, when guitarist Chris Biciste replaced Richard.
Fronted by the powerful lead vocals of Mark Magdich, BROTHER has built a reputation as one of the most vocally versatile and talented bands in the state of Indiana. All 4-members have lead vocal ability and the band possess a four-part harmony style which sets them apart from other local bands. It has been said and written that the band covers the covers that can’t be done…but BROTHER does.
One of the elements of a BROTHER live show — to rave reviews — is a nightly acoustic set. Mike slips out from behind his drum set and joins Mark, Michael & Chris on bar stools at the front of the stage for an intimate and involving acoustic performance of songs that you would never think of hearing in an acoustic setting.
BROTHER BIO's:
MARK MAGDICH
Mark taught himself not only to play nine different instruments, but had also studied operatic styles of voice by the age of 17. Mark moved to California in search of his dreams, after many years of touring Canada, the Northeast and Southern United States with various bands. After living in Los Angeles for just a short time, he landed a recording contract, guest appearances on a variety of albums, including performing background vocals on "The Paul Shortino Band" CD, and many sessions for television and radio. His television performances include singing the main title themes for such cartoons as "The New Adventures of Speed Racer", "Guardians of the Cosmos", and "The Fantastic Voyages of Sinbad", as well as, a spot session for ABC's sitcom 'Dharma & Greg'. He has also delved into scoring short films and composed and recorded many inspiring instrumental pieces. He is currently working on a solo cd project which he hopes to have completed very soon.
MIKE MAGDICH
Mike has pursued music since the age of three, when he disappeared from his parents into the hardware section of the department store to bang out rhythm .. cans. At 19, Mike participated in the Guardsmen Drum and Bugle Corps, and simultaneously began his rock career in bands with twin brother Mark. The twins traveled the country together until Mark's departure for Los Angeles to pursue his recording career. Mike continued to play in a variety of rock, jazz, country, and blues bands, including a Pink Floyd tribute (The Lennon Brothers) which toured internationally, until he made the decision to pursue a degree in music education at Ball State University, and finally at Indiana University Fort Wayne. Mike has instructed pupils in percussion at public and private high schools all over the state since the age of 18. He has arranged numerous pieces for marching band percussion including a selection that took Wayne High School to a ninth place position at State Finals. He has performed with members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, the IPFW Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, and is a member of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity at Ball State University.
MICHAEL CAMPBELL
Born in a rural area of south-central Kentucky (Lake Cumberland), Michael was always singing as a child and knew he had a love for music by the age of five. His parents bought him his first guitar when he was six and his Mom taught him his first chords. By age 11, Michael was invited to play and sing at venues around the region, performing with many seasoned musicians. By age 14, Michael was in his first of many local bands, playing night clubs in southern Kentucky and northern Tennessee. Five years later, the band finally hit the road playing the east coast and midwest club circuit. Even though he loved being on the road, Michael knew he wanted more than what that cover band could offer. Looking for an opportunity to create an original act, Michael moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana in the fall of 1990 where he, with three local musicians, formed Angel X and released their cd "Children Of The Reign". Writing and recording quickly became a passion for Michael, but being on a stage and performing is the greatest of all his musical passions.
