Bro. Stephen is the brainchild of Scott Kirkpatrick (frontman for Louisville, KY indie-rock band Chemic). Originally conceived on a cold December night, he wanted to craft meaningful harmony-laden songs that captured moments and specific feelings rather than songs with sweeping generalizations or simple love tunes.
That first night, he crafted 6 songs within a few short hours and has continued writing song after song preparing to record Bro. Stephen's debut record in an old barn in Northern Indiana at a friend's grandfather's horse farm.
Although the band is relatively new, their impact has already been felt and folks from all over have been taking note of their sharp ascent. Although they have only played a handful of shows, they have already shared the stage with such great acts as The Fiery Furnaces, Sun Kil Moon, Anni Rossi, Psalters, Vandaveer and more.
Throughout 2009, Bro. Stephen will be playing shows all over the country and recording its debut record.
