Welcome to The Official Brown Bags to Stardom Music Myspace! The Brown Bags To Stardom (BBTS) competition was started over 25 years ago back in 1981 as a live talent show. It has launched the careers of great performers such as: Tia Carerre, Kapena, Na Leo, and Glenn Medeiros. It has helped to build the self-esteem and confidence of students, rallied schools, increased school spirit, inspired thousands of television viewers, and is expected to become a national and global phenomenon through the Internet as the premier showcase for children & teens! The contest ended in 2000, until Johnny Kai and the Music Foundation of Hawaii (MFH), "took over the reigns" in 2006 and re-launched the talent contest with a slightly different format using 2-minute music videos submitted by contestants and aired on TV and on the Internet. In 2008, Brown Bags to Stardom expanded to the Elementary and Middle Schools (Public & Private) joining the High Schools launching the original - "Talent Show". On February 28, 2009, Brown Bags to Stardom hosted the largest all school talent contest in the State of Hawaii from the ages of 6 to 18!
MUSIC VIDEO CHALLENGE (High School students only) Sign up for the 2009-2010 BBTS competition in August of 2009! How to submit a music video entry: 1. Go to: www.brownbagstostardom.com to download registration form. 2. Complete and sign the form (each performer in the group and the video must complete and sign a form) 3. If you are submitting a music video, please read the following: *Maximum length of video: 2.5 - 3.5 minutes (150 - 230 seconds) * Format: mini DV tape (preferred) or DVD *Insert 60 seconds of black before and after the video segment *Song composition must be original and composed solely for the use of the contestant's entry * Song and video must exemplify a positive lifestyle (drug-free, non-violence, non-offensive, not sexual in nature, etc.) 4.
