the time Bryan Reynolds made me a stack of CD-rs to listen to and one was Wonderful Rainbow, myself, the first time I met Dan Deacon when we were both sober at a Lightning Bolt show he was added on when no one had ever heard of him but the people I worked with and we had to wear crew t-shirts to blockade the audience and mine was clearly to small and he shouted "YOU DON'T LOOK FAT AT ALL! JUST TRY IT ON!", the two weeks I spent at after parties drunk talking to James Ferraro about Nickelodeon in the early 90s before I had ever heard their records, the time Heidi Ferrell sang Third Eye Blind's "Semi Charmed Kind of Life" in my car in the cold in queens before I crashed it, the time Todd said "you could do anything in my presence but if you EVER talk shit on Morrisey I'll kill you" and meant it, the time some one told me Jah Jah really liked Morissey, the time Maggie Matela had an unbelievably long conversation about Belle and Sebastian and I realized she had never met anyone before who knew as much as her about them, the time Edan almost made me cry describing he had to go to an Aquabats show all alone cause no one would go with him, the time Joe Ahearn break danced in a printing press' parking lot in Denton, Texas proving to me that Charlie Ahearn was the real deal, the time Tony Brenan taught me perfect time by grabbing my leg and stomping it to a Sting CD, the time Mike Visconti perfomed music he wrote for me in my apartment with no sense of movement even though the music he made was good, Joe2rad and his friends being earnestly proud BIG show crowd control; giving high fives to one another, the handful of times Heidi performed for me songs she loved, the time Maggie Matela expressed her love and devotion for the Misfits, the first time I saw Todd's apartment; covered in taste and flyers from the past, the time Dave Longstreth showed me approval for calling him "Longstreth" like a high school principal scolding him, the time Black Dice played for 3 hours in a lunch counter in a blizzard in Greenpoint, any number of times screaming my favorite Rage Against the Machine songs at the top of my longs, Chunkles, the time I got legitimately mad that Samantha left me off her Christmas Album and then had the gal to send me it anyway, every time I was ever in the Cockpit ever, the time where I played a 2 year education in "weird" music" and then when she knew nothing knew the words to "Footprints in the Snow", any time Ana showed up for anything, the handful of times I got to jam with Max and Sean and they were amazed by my interest in touch tapping and using pedals, the time John Dehaven played me a bunch of boring music I had heard years ago and then said "Dirty Projectors sounds like Lauren Hill" and I had never heard that intelligent of a music comment out of anyones voice before or since, the time I spent cleaning Silent Barn with John Chavez before we hated each other and Todd (this actually took about two full work weeks of cleaning with five people if anyone wants to imagine how much we did), every Meteor Earth and F-thndr show I've ever seen, the time an amp actually exploded into flames because of how loud and awesome Brad's riffs were, the time Ben Thomas really did let me choose his bass tone, the time I was too embarrassed to introduce myself to Bri from Best Friends Forever because I realized I already knew her name and personal information and that made her vulnerable, the time I realized Mick Barr was TOO nice to grill about shredding technique, the time Caitlin Bechtel claimed she wanted a large tattoo of the cover of "The Ugly Organ" on her forearm and I made fun of her instead of kissing her, the enormous trip to see Boredoms with Eric and Cal, the first time I ever walked into Silent Barn and watched the Skeletons jamming, the time Bryan put a microphone in his mouth and did a drum solo to impress Justyn, the first time I ever saw Zs perform "Except When You Don't Because Sometimes You Won't", the only time I ever played guitar hero at a party at some one's house, the dance Julian and Bryan made up to a Residents song that I'm pretty sure only 9 people have heard ever, the time I slept in Paul's sister's bed after we went to Daft Punk, the one time at Josh Jodoin's house where Justyn sung me an entire song he actually wrote, every time Charlie Looker took out a lot of extra time from every single instruction to explain how my opinions were subjective and how I didn't have to do anything he ever said ever, the time USAisamonster killed it, the time Craig Rosen explained to me how sound can physically hurt people besides their ears, the time Dan and me drummed underneath a bridge, the time me and Dave played Wesleyan with Karl Blau, the first time I ever met Dan and DIY Scott and we drank lemonade coolattas at Dunkin Donuts in Shelton, half of the Bruit Vert shows where they really meant all that flailing, the time I threw a show in my bedroom with Bruit Vert and all my shitty high school friends snuck out on it like they were cool kids, the time Fiona Patrick let me almost bleed to death after a bed of nails fell on me at a ZooOoOooOOM and Green Milk from the Planet Orange show at Third Ward and I woke up the next day and was still bleeding, anything the Residents ever touched up until after Demon's Dance Alone, the first show I ever worked for Todd P which resulted in Todd, me, Dylan, the entire band The Fugue, John from Worms in Dirt who I can never find the effort or the time to offer to hang out with at an illegal strip club in a now defunct venue, the handful of times where Gates has terrified me, Greg's band I Over Three You, the handful of songs I tried to write with Heidi, the time I realized Isabel from Boucnerfighter was a milf, any number of shows in the basement of Silent Barn involving a trashed Jah Jah diving into a small crowd in a luchedor mask, the time I booked a tour for Shinyville, voicemails from Jandek, people who get excited by hearing Can for the first time, doing "menamena" with Jennie before it was cool, passing out in Jesse Krakow's apartment after working Boadrum after going out drinking for my birthday with Ric (who was the only person who remembered my birthday), the time Jesse Schuster taught me that there is value in just playing in bands for fun with a hot girl, the one time Jim Kohigley actually showed up to jam and then just annoyed us all by refusing to play, the time I road in the trunk of a 2 door car with alcohol over me because we didn't have enough room and when Todd parked the car to buy liquor I almost suffocated on a spraying aerosol can that was spraying, Ric sending me better songs of his than the last one, the time Jesse Krakow screamed at me about, the time my roommate Joe actually gave me his really straightfaced Ween cover band's CD, the complete and total lack of disrespect I have for other people I am forced to share practice spaces with, "Dance No. 2" by Cottage, the time at Crimer practice where I attempted to sing Lightning Bolt songs with Julian drumming, the time I picked Paper Rad and Justin from Meneguar both up from the airport and Justin turned out to be WAY more interesting and engaging and funny, Karl Blau, the one time I actually did show up to see White Suns play, the note I got on my door from my neighbor when me and Logan played in my apartment at full blast, the time Kevin Shea getting too drunk and coopted the first show People ever played to play "In the Name of Love" by U2 while Mary Halverson stood there politely smiling, every time I've ever been in the presence of Mary from High Places ever in my life, the time I tried to meet Eric Copeland ten times and then one night Bjorn just came up to me and turned out to be very nice and engaging, the time I went to a Fiasco house show and realized what sixteen year old girls look like that are cool, Lucas Crane just sort of choosing speeds to play normal tapes, Maggie Mattela's relentless undying love of Japanther which she fervently denies dayly, the first official Romstar meeting which was literally just me and Zark and Manic Mark high in a thai restaurant basement screaming, the time I stole Marshall Birnbaum's Queens of the Stone Age cd which I read about in Rolling Stone the month earlier, the time I realized that if Mark was at a Zs show and at a Mick Barr show and at Boadrum that he should probably be the best dude ever, Joe Ahearn, Jason (whose last name we couldn't figure out for about six hours) Amos, every time Matt Elkin played me a new Best Friends Forever album in exchange for gas money, Mick Barr's picture in the New York Times arts and leisure section when I was sixteen, Mike Clair's sole indie band in all of Fairfield for years, any time I ever played music with Mike Croxton, Mike Dego when he taught me the secrets to guitar tone in his burnt out garage, the first Squa show, the time I realized I didn't have to like a band to be friends with them or for them to be awesome dudes when I met Team Robespierre, the time me and Mike Lavareo made fun of Luke Shalijan's suckiness at music by playing Weezer songs, everytime Mike Sheffield's ambiguous sexuality going out the window, when Neo Nazi's tried to beat up Lightning Bolt But Taller because of a schedule conflict in the show (seriously, they threw bottles and chairs and threw objects at us) and we woke up the next morning with a full tank of gas, a new tire, and breakfast with a turtle thanks to Mrs. Birnbaum, the second Squa show where we refused to stay around for the headliners because they didn't watch them and they were the opening band and we walked back to my house from the church and Nate said watching Beyonce Knowles was "sex" embodied, the time I worked at one of the best shows I saw all last year and only 6 people came (it was Cryptacize, Flying, and a pretty prepared pianist), the entire trip to Texas discluding Todd and Edan and how much it sucked, any time Nate Clark played us anything he clearly got from Max, Electric Soul Theory shows, Nathan's idea of mainstream hip hop, some girl named Rochelle who I've never been sober enough to get her number after three or four attempts, the time me and Alaina and Ric got too drunk at Don Pedro's and played hot or not with facebook, Pat Klouman clapping his hands to the overdubs of clapping in Glam rock songs, the time I hassled Pete Edwards about Mike Patton, hanging out with burnouts on the green where the weird kids sit at Fitch, Pete Schuettes' interest in awesome keyboard sounds, Phil Berreta's real last name and the extremely cute and bright roommate of his girlfriends who I never did get to see again, the first show we did that made money that Deer Tick and Louis and Clark played, the first show Ric ever played and how angry he was when he sang and how polite his banter was when he didn't, anytime Alaina has not bothered to use a mirror to determine how much you can see through her tights, Josh Jodoin's ability to not show up to school for a month and when I see him it is at a lunch period to tell me about new music, Todd's inability to mention the good business practice of working with girls who can't use mirrors to check tights, my father singing "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog", the Tape Reels for Eyes collective and accumulation of unbelievably cute girls, drumming in the Nest for hours alone, the time I sang Robin and Samantha "Rocky Raccoon" and they really did like it a lot, the time Bryan Reynolds talked me and Caitlin out of going to a Lightning Bolt show by actuallyy scaring us, Steve Ensinger's violently relentless love of Ozzy Osbourne, the time I learned that metal chicks are real and not just cartoon characters on MMUSA, the first time taste makers came on MMUSA and I saw Juliya and she liked Pink Floyd too, any interaction I've ever had with any member of the band Sarah Johnson, Stina Lynn Voonasis having incredible taste in everything but only being interested in Tom Petty for music, the time Brendan Fowler stopped a show of 2,000 odd people to pull a cigarette out of a 18 year old blonde girls mouth, any show Marnie Stern has played sober and with a good backing band, any music Tyler from Sarah Johnson has ever played me, thirty year old dudes reminiscing about old hardcore music the first time I saw Aa, Todd, Growing, Dylan, Fiona, Comets on Fire (the power went out and the drummer had the sense to keep the beat going and when the power came back on everyone was screaming and singing and clapping to the drums), Matt and Kim, Talbiam! (they seriously played an entire set where they just made fun of the different members of the Headhunters), Excepter (John Fell Ryan beat up a guy and jumped on his chest), and Ex Models. How much my dad believed in the song "Another Brick in the Wall". Everything by the band Phish. The wizard that is John deHaven. The wizard that is dan Robison, any music that Josh Jodoin smokes weed to, subtly humorous unapologetic female compiled music collections

We were being and knowing That two were one, and we were three In twelve sided cosmos, drifting by I wasn’t seeing I was feeling And wasn’t being, doing, two were one And when I looked to it Nothing but the corner of my eye Then we were three, and being Being and doing I hadn’t known that two were one We were that same one, and being When I know, I feel I see that two were one We were three and being Drifted through twelve sides And we were being Knowing that two were one And falling there on clouds like stars We were three and known We were one, I don’t know I was being, doing, but I knew That two were one And clouds flow down Drifting, we know, and see Doing, and knowing we were three And knowing two were one That two were one.
