Illness, dance-floor mishaps, and the departure of three different members followed the release of Brownfield's 2002 debut album "Broken Glass", but the group was reformed around vocalist and songwriter Luke Barnard.
The delicate bones of Barnard's songs are now fleshed out with the assistance of Manchester-based musicians Matt Smithson and David Boon, both a part of up and coming UK band Maupa, Bristol guitarist Scott Hazell, and the Washington D.C. area brother, Zack. The Trans-Atlantic arrangement lends a subtle air of British based suffocation to the Midwest-American themes and melodies.
The songs are rain-flecked, ethereal, and emotive; painting pictures of corn fields and endless miles of highway... shedding a different light on life in middle America while ringing true with the industrialized depression which encapsulates the music of Manchester.
