BRUCE, THE BAND:
What can I say about BRUCE? He's an old stratocaster player who doesn't take it out much. He spent many years in the mountains of his youth, developing and practicing rectangular breathing. He's got a moveable voice. Bruce met Bruce at a very young age; he's been adjusting ever since. The band's still together, though. He's writing songs regularly; his instruments of choice these days are a two-year-old Martin D-28 cutaway and a 53-year-old Gibson L-4CN which has been carefully and uniquely electrified. His present focus is learning his own tunes well enough to perform with his beautiful wife, Lisa, in their tempestuous little duo, "Markley&Balmer." Watch that myspace! Bruce's solo gigs tend toward odd bouts of busking in Oak Cliff, Texas, and for circles of similarly-afflicted songwriters in Sylvan settings. The mission statement of BRUCE, THE BAND, is to keep learning and writing songs, to improve as a vocalist, and to meet interesting people in their better moments. Oh Yeah, and I want to play in your town.
got your messages on face and space. I'm under the radar, writing, writing. Would love to see the cat-gutting process. Might like to do it myself, depending on the cat.
From where do these great new songs spill forth? You're on a tear (reads 2 ways, for what it's worth). The guitar stuff is stupifying. You've made me stupid. Trying to figure how what's done is done. Fangled new and deftly spun, son.
Also, wow! Thanks for posting that song you wrote, Boys Will Be Boys. I love it! I am a big geek for anything with science-type references in it! Cool!
heya Bruce, long lost friend, sounds like your world is great! I'm so happy to hear that. Please tell the little lady congrats. Also happy to hear your lovely music on this page. best wishes to you!!
"These new songs from Balmer are quirky and fantastic (at the same time, which hasn't been done since the last time)! John Prine meets Jimi Hendrix while reading a book by Richard Brautigan that he borrowed from a guy in a bathroom in Pensacola."
