My name is Bruno, I'm from Brazil and I'm 17.
I'm a music lover, everywhere I go, and everything I do has to have music on it. I love almost every kind of music (R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, Soul, Dance, Rap, Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Rock, Acoustic, Techno and the Old Schools too)
When I was 14, I started writing lyrics in English, trying to improve my vocabulary and pronunciation, because I didn’t have money to pay for a course, so I started learning a lot of things by myself. And until today, I still do it. It’s a free therapy to me. I can say everything I feel in a lyric. If I’m happy, sad, mad, confused, in love… and I need to feel better, I write a song. And even if the lyric has nothing to do with what I feel, after finishing it, I really feel better.
Neither of the lyrics has an official beat or a demo beyond the ones in my mind. To each one of them I have a different beat in my head; if I start singing it the beats and melody just come out.
When I write a song, I think about a specific producer style (like Timbaland, Scott Storch), ‘cause later, I’ll match the lyric with their beat style in my head, for example:
When I wrote my first up-tempo, “Go, Go, Go”, the beat came to my head along with the rhythm, and it was a kind of Rich Harrison’s productions (“Crazy In Love”, “Get Right”“). So if one day I’d have to chance, “Go, Go, Go” would be produced by Rich Harrison, because the good energy of his beats matches a lot with the vibe of my song. But I also have a second possible producer. Some other who also matches with the vibe of my lyrics. In the case of “Go, Go, Go” is Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins ("Lose My Breath", "When I Grow Up").
And that’s how I’ve been doing with every lyric I write. In my list, there are productions from Timbaland, Danja, Scott Storch, will.i.am, StarGate, Emanuel Kiriakou, Dre & Vidal, Polow Da Don, The Underdogs, Darkchild, The Neptunes, Shea Taylor, Lauryn Hill, Robin Thicke, Swizz Beatz, Sean Garrett, Toby Gad, The Underdogs, Rich Harrison, Tricky Stewart, T-Pain, Bloodshy & Avant, Dr. Luke, Bryan Michael-Cox, RedOne…
And I like I do to choose a possible producer; I also do it to choose a possible guest in the songs. I’ve been thinking about Jay-Z (“Go, Go, Go”), will.i.am (“I Need You”), T-Pain (“Dancin’, Dancin’”, Movin’ On”), Missy Elliott (“You Better Say My Name”), Eve (“Dizzy Of Love”), T.I. (“Like A Drop”), Sean Paul (“Pretty Girl”), Lil’ Wayne (“Bring It Back”), Timbaland (“Red Light”), Kelly Rowland (“The Day We Met”), Ludacris (“A Body Like That”), among others.
Since June 2006, I’ve been writing songs. They’re 60 now; it may be a short number for you, but for me it’s not. ‘Cause I started writing the songs in English without even know the whole language.
But today, I’m in an English course, learning lots and lots of things and I’m using these new things in my lyrics.
The first song I wrote was the pop/R&B ballad called “Love Song”.
Today I’m in the university; studying publicity; but what I really like and what I really want are the spotlights. Music and Theatre are my childhood dreams. I always wanted to release an R&B album all over the world which would be number 1, with number 1 singles, etc…; act in great movies, and be recognized and very respected for it.
But I’m not that rich one. I can’t pay to record an album, or for a good theatre course. And I don’t know if I’m able to get a record deal, I’m not that good and I’m a little bit shy too.
I really wanted to learn more about music and have the opportunities, but I don’t have money.
But I know that God will bless me soon; He’ll give me all these opportunities and gon’ make me lose the shyness (unless when I’m on a stage ;D), for me to be able to perform, as a singer or an actor, relaxed.
