Margot Fonteyn had painkillers injected into her feet during performances so she could keep dancing.
Isadora Duncan had a fondness for long scarves and often danced with them. In 1927 she was in the passenger seat of a car, and threw an especially long scarf around her neck, meeting a horrible death - the obituary states - "The automobile was going at full speed when the scarf of strong silk began winding around the wheel and with terrific force dragged Miss Duncan, around whom it was securely wrapped, bodily over the side of the car, precipitating her with violence against the cobblestone street. She was dragged for several yards before the chauffeur halted, attracted by her cries in the street. Medical aid was summoned, but it was stated that she had been strangled and killed instantly."

the perfect example of why metal and classical are so similar
The dancers of Brutal Ballet were brought together by 28 year old Thomas Rosten, after he stalked and abducted each of them with the idea of putting together a classical ballet company that dances to metal. His vision of ballerinas being the last place where women were seen as beautiful, graceful and feminine, joined with the masculine power of metal music, was to him, a union of perfection.
After the dancers were found by detectives, bound and chained in a large room that had been fitted with ballet barres, mirrors and dance flooring made especially for ballet dancers. They were in excellent health, but having spent so many weeks undiscovered, they had succumbed to Stockholm Syndrome and remained loyal to Rosten after his incarceration, refusing to talk about their time with him, and continuing to rehearse the ballet for him.
Brutal Ballet premiered Dethballet January 2009 ".....a captivating visual extravaganza that would titillate an audience regardless of musical accompaniment......choreography synchronises with the music exceptionally – Dethklok’s music and ballet comparing and contrasting with remarkable sophistication." (Matt O'Neil, Time Off Mag)
The company now performs with special guest band Klokblok.
