Not pictured: Eric Weber (sax), Marc Capelle (trumpet), Caroll Ashby (trombone), Randy McQueen (keys), Cole Marquis (guitar) and I'm sure several others that I've lost too many brain cells to remember at the moment...plus special mention to all the great sound guys who made us sound good over the years: especially Blake and all the crew up at Humpty's, Marc at the Nitebreak, and Johnny Rod, Dale Snale, Adam Wakeling, Sloan, Tolar, Rob Wysling, Zinky and Woot for all the Chico shows.
Brutilicus Maximus has been Chico's most outrageous party band for the last 20 years. The San Francisco Guardian coined us "The originators of beer-swilling party funk" and the only thing that rivals our butt-shakin' dance grooves is our flamboyant stage outfits and show.
Brut Max spawned in 1987 as a 10 piece monster funk machine and was Chico's number one party band back when this college town earned the moniker as the "nation's number one party school" (according to Playboy magazine).
We've released two self-produced albums, packed clubs in Chico, The San Francisco Bay Area and Lake Tahoe, and have played on bills with an eclectic variety of world class bands (Burning Spear, The Tubes, Camper van Beethoven, Jeff Healey, Pato Banton, Dread Zeppelin, The Mother Hips, Joe Lewis Walker & The Bosstalkers, Otis Day & The Knights, Los Straightjackets, and War).
Although Brut Max has been rumored to be dead more often than ABE VIGODA the band
has never stopped playing at least one gig each year. So keep an eye on this site as you never know when we might put on yet another "reunion" show.
