New York City's fabulous folk-pop duo, with strains of blues and bossa nova, Bryan and Marcy, met at a songwriters' open mic in the East Village in 1997. First they started dating, then they started performing and writing together.
Although growing up thousands of miles apart (Bryan in Hawaii and Marcy in Connecticut), their musical roots intertwined in the love and protest songs of their 1960's childhoods. Bryan and Marcy songs span a variety of subjects -- love of the Earth, love for each other, love of cats, and poverty in the world.
The folk duo of Bryan & Marcy – usually accompanied by one or two heavy duty, kick ass blues guitarists, along with an equally outrageous saxophonist -- bring a colorful mix of folk, blues, activism, awareness, compassion, peace and love to audiences throughout the New York City downtown scene. Evoking memories of a more idealistic past, Bryan and Marcy’s dramatic songs of love and protest open our eyes to the world. To listen to their music is to take a journey into the new millennium with gentleness and awareness -- creating a vision of how we can all come together to heal ourselves, each other, and the world.
