Alabama, Sawyer Brown, George Strait, Keith Urban and Rascall Flatts for the country side of me.
Dire Straits, Huey Lewis, Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, and even a little Rush for the rock and roll side.
Geoff Moore, Kathryn Scott, Matt Redman, Russ Taff, and Ken Medema are some favorites from the Christian genre.
Mauri Macy and Derric Johnson are who I'd like to be like the most.
Several years ago I was putting together a worship service and needed a song to say "Thank You." I couldn't find one that fit, and a few days later on a long commute down I-5, it just sort of came out. We used it that Sunday and by the third verse, I was touched to see that people in our congregation were singing along like they already knew the song. Over the years I've written and used a few more songs, sometimes with equally positive results, sometimes not. Those that have a relatively simple structure and have a readily accessible message seem to be effective tools for worship right from the start. My intent has been to write that kind of song.
This MySpace page isn't my attempt to sell a million songs. I'm making them available here with the hope that they generate enough interest that I can eventually spend more time as a songwriter and worship pastor. My hope is to see these songs being used in many churches and that they will be a blessing to those who sing them and to the One to whom they are sung. Lead sheets and chord charts are available in pdf format at www.sharesong.org for free. If anyone can tell me how to add them to this myspace site, please do!
Thanks for visiting...
