About me: My name is Bryan Andretti (B. Andretti). I reside in what is known as the “Motown of the South”, Atlanta, GA. All of my life, I have been overweight. However, I never let that stop me from following my dreams. Once I set my mind to doing something, I’ll stop at nothing to get it done; that is, everything but losing weight. I have tried several times to lose weight on my own, but to no avail. I am a singer/songwriter that stopped performing because of my weight. I am a classically trained tenor with a degree in Music Education. Training classically allowed me to sing with several different orchestras. I was also privileged to perform with the late great William Warfield from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. I also auditioned for America’s favorite talent show, American Idol (AI). I was given a golden ticket and sent to Hollywood. Even as an overweight singer my talent outweighed my weight. I feel I was sent home from AI because of my weight. I did not let that stop me from reaching my goal of being an entertainer. Instead, I used it as fuel for my fire. I went on to compete in “Shooting Stars”, a local TV show on NBC 15 in Mobile, Alabama. I won the Urban R&B category; which gave me studio time. With that time, I went on to write and record my first song in a major studio “Angel Eyes”. When I returned to Atlanta, I started writing, producing, and recording my first demo with hope of it being heard by someone in the music industry. I soon found out the music industry is largely drive by looks and my heavy look was not getting me in the door. I heard a radio commercial about “The Biggest Loser” TV show. While listening to the commercial, I thought ‘what better way to get my name out there and work on my image than to go on a show about losing weight. I went to an open call for the show. God must have had it in the stars for me because I made it on the show. For the second time, I was on my way to Hollywood to be on reality TV. This time, my weight will not stop me from being successful. I was nervous and excited to start the next phase of my life. After confronting the battle with the bulge, I feel confident and ready to take on the world of entertainment; not only music, but film and print media as well. I am also determined to help people find the motivation to lose weight. I also want to work toward preventing children from becoming obese. It’s a shame that the best country in the world is also the most over weight. Its time for a change, and it starts with ME! B. Andretti
