From humble beginnings (busking in the streets of Sydney), Bryce has turned his love for music into a full time event since 2006. This home grown kiwi musician performs beautiful acoustic songs that draw on personal experiences, emotion, faith, rawness and honesty.
This guy has a heart for people and a musical passion larger than life. He naturally interacts with his audience with real life stories that will warm your heart and make you feel at ease.
Influenced by the likes of Damien Rice, Neil Finn, Coldplay, John Mayer, Brooke Fraser, Jack Johnson & Bob Dylan, Bryce’s music shows depth, spirituality, and is drawn from an interesting journey of life experience.
His live show is like no other, featuring a stunning background visual show featuring aerial helicopter footage filmed flying over beautiful New Zealand scenic locations.
Bryce has toured NZ & Australia and has been a guest musician on a luxury cruise liner. In NZ he is endorsed by NZ's largest music retailer- Music works, and backed by a sizzling HOT 4 pc band which includes some of Taranaki's outstanding talents incl Brian Hatcher (electric guitars), Simon James (bass), and Jared Hill (drums).
There's no doubt, Bryce is ' at home ' on the stage solo with his trusty acoustic & a story up his sleeve.
Bryce left high school in 1992 and completed a 4 yr boat building apprenticeship, but due to chronic fatigue, due to toxic poisoning from fiberglass, he was forced to leave his boat building career behind. After lots of soul searching, Bryce decided to volunteer in Summer camps in USA and Alaska.
In 2000 He moved to Sydney where he won a teaching scholarship and completed a visual arts/teaching degree, and began learning the guitar in 2002. Skills remembered from classical piano lessons taken as early as 6 yrs old paid off, combined with a solid work ethic , Bryce honed his craft while busking, playing at church and hitting the open mic nights.
Currently based in New Zealand’s west coast town of New Plymouth, he teaches guitar to rural primary school kids, and shares his music nationwide in bars, cafes, festivals, wineries, schools, radio stations & churches- where he has built a respectable following.
Some notable achievements include:
- 2007 Independently releasing a well respected debut album “A Perfect Day for Travel” , of which 5 songs were recently selected for the surfing movie sound track - The Last Paradise (awaiting release)
- ' Surf the Sky ' won HOT PIC award in the Pacific Songwriting competition recently.
- Signing a Music works endorsement deal.
- Released a successful acoustic self titled EP in 2005, produced by Dale Willis.
- Performing with some of NZ’s & Australia's finest artists: Paul Ubana Jones, Anna Coddington, Stu Larsen, Brandon Reihana (ex Blind Spot), Luke Thompson, Chris Cope, Lauren Thomson, Karen Hunter, Dale Willis...
2010 looks promising for this professional and hardworking independent artist who is currently writing songs for a second album.
