The state of hip-hop is in disarray, and is looking for that person that is going to restore true artistry back to the art form. Ladies and gentlemen, I present that person to you. . . Bry'Nt. Bry'Nt is coming to bring what the hip-hop community is lacking, diversity. With his new mixtape, "Porn Star," he plans to take the music industry by storm! Being a Black man, that lives an alternative lifestyle, Bry'Nt is hoping to change the way the hip-hop community views our world, and bring to light issues that are affecting us all day-to-day.
Bry'Nt grew an early interest in music growing up in Hartford, CT., and from this interest grew a passion. He found a way to express himself when his mother bought him a karaoke machine at 8 years old in which he used to record his early material. At 14, he and a friend started a rap duo called 3rd Degree where Bry'Nt took the name Step-Child. He remembers using the karaoke machine to record their music as if it was a real studio. Although he was extremely expressive with his music, Bry'Nt was not comfortable with his sexuality at this point in his life. His sexuality remained a secret from his family, his friends, his group, and most importantly, his mother.
Bry'Nt struggled accepting his sexuality, and acting out negatively was the only way he found fit to express it. It was at age 15 that Bry'Nt came to accept his sexuality, and this is where his music took a turn of events. Since 3rd Degree was no longer in effect, Bry'Nt felt obligated to be more truthful about his life in his music, and became comfortable with doing so. Bry'Nt felt the images of the homosexual lifestyle in hip-hop music were poor, and he wanted to portray a realistic one. With that he felt he needed to make music that was more "rainbow-friendly," (a pun he developed to describe his style of music). When asked about his opinion of the state of hip-hop, he responded, "Everyone's a gangsta and a thug! Who are the gangsta's really? There are already [closeted] gay rappers in Hip-Hop; they just don't talk about it." Bry'Nt feels that a rapper's sexuality shouldn't define them, or put them in a separate category musically. "Hip-Hop is hip-hop!" He is looking to send a message, and give his peers something they can all listen and relate to. "Porn Star" and "Porn Star II: The Director's Cut" are Bry'Nt's gifts to the hip-hop community. They're raw, different, and most of all SHOCKING. Bry'Nt is trying to break down stereotypes and barriers that would hinder individuals from gaining the respect they deserve. He realizes it'll be a process, but he knows that with his music he'll be able to knock down some doors! Be on the look-out for Bry'Nt's music! Get ready for the hottest homo in the game!
