About Beauty School Drop Out
Having found an interest in Dance Music at the age of 19, this young bud (Beauty School Drop Out), was yearning to flower. Developing mixing skills to a Country crowd at 'The Blue Arrow' Bunbury, his smoothly blended style was on the rise.
To further delve into his interest of Breaks and Tech Music alike, he ventured from the South to the core of Western Aust, Perth. Studying at SAE College found him partnering mixing styles with 'Junkle Viny'"(Graham Bruce), to form an alliance by the name of Nyquist Freqs...
With their alliance only getting stronger, the 2 had funk fuelled mixes broadcast on the risingly popular Bijou Breaks Website. This expanded their audience to interest the Breakbeat Community world wide.
Their technique and rhythm attracted the scratch-ability of the 'Angry Buda'. This introduced a new flavor of accapellas and atom-splicing cuts to their unique Breakbeat sets...Then the Freqs were 3!
Nominated for Best New Talent In 2005 for Perth Dance Music Awards, the trio came in a close third place to local up'n'comer Drum & Bass Djs Kito and Bad Robot.
With their form turning to be a crowd pleaser across the Perth scene, the three began highlighting alongside some excellent Breakbeat talents to the likes of Smithmonger, Phil K, Stanton Warriors, Deekline & Wizard, Scam, Phantom Beats and Australian Acts Q45, Hook & Sling And Bass Kleph to name just a few.
Event line-ups treated them well with slots @ Park Life, Major Break, Breakfest, Battle of the Brands, Nocturnal Ball, Backbeat, Sub Culture, Monster Mash, Mad Hatters And Regular Spotlights at Beatsuite, Heat, Destination, Backbeat and Ambars Japan 4 & Habitat.
Across their journey the 'Freqs' have featured on local Radio Stations Base Fm, Rtr Fm & GrooveFM.
After a solid 3-year residency at Ambar, the Freqs parted ways, all deciding to focus solo on their music.
Ambar was not going to let this talent go, giving Beauty School Drop Out residency for 2008. His popularity grew and he soon established himself as one of the best Breakbeat DJ's in Perth coming in 3 at the 2008 Perth Dance and Music Awards.
Beauty School Drop Out is not only fun to listen to, but his outgoing personality makes him fun to watch! (especially with all that room behind the decks being solo). He has an uncanny ability to read and adapt to any crowd and is a master of having a great time, making sure the crowd does the same.
As a solo artist Beauty School Drop Out has supported the likes of - James Taylor, Nick Thayer, Hook'n'Sling, Kid Kenobi, Two Fresh, Lee Coombs, Plump Dj's, Stanton Warriors, Rephrase, Groove Diggerz, Sampology, Cagedbaby.
Recently Beauty School Drop Out made a move to the East Coast landing in Byron Bay. Here he is using the special talent he possesses for Sound and Music as a Sound Engineer at Rockinghorse Studio, recently working with Wolfmother to record their new album. His trained ear for music is a product of constant learning and thirst for music knowledge, staying up to date with the latest equipment and music software.
Beauty School Drop Out is combining fresh Tech Funk with Classic beats to create an unrivaled excitement in a room whilst infecting it with his energy and presence from behind the decks.
In 2009 Beauty School Drop Out will be taking advantage of the opportunities that exist in the ever-popular dance music scene, producing his own music as well as appearing in a number of nightclubs in NSW and QLD.
With a fresh ear for a body shaking sound, Beauty School Drop Out has his headphones down and monitors up working towards producing a delightful contribution to the Dance Music Scene wherever it may roam.
Beauty School Drop Out is not disappearing soon, the future looks bright for this exciting producer and DJ.
Wooohaaaaa!!! Braindrop is throwing its very first boat party on Saturday 6 June.
The vessel is specially equipped to hold large groups of people (and all the extra bass bins we can squeeze on). Her name is The Dutch Master and she be a mighty fine boat too!
It's going to be a ridiculously fun rinse up. However, if you think you can get away with being remotely serious and/or cool at this party - ye be mistaken. The Braindrop Boat Rave is fancy dress: Pirate's from the 80's. Arrgh...better get thinkin what ye gonna wear.
