B. SYKES BIO
Born and raised in Decatur, Alabama Byron Sykes has been in love with hip-hop for many years. Some of his influences are U.G.K., Outkast, Eightball M.J.G and Scarface, to name a few. In the early 90s B.Sykes' passion for rap music continued to grow as his skills improved. Through freestylin and local talent shows, B knew he wanted to take his game a step further. B. Sykes attended the University of North Alabama for two years in pursuit of a degree in marketing. His interest in school gradually faded (yall know how it be) as his passion for music grew even stronger. B and his roommate/longtime friend Pat Jackson started writing rhymes together and eventually started a group called North West Dec. shortly after they changed there group name to S-N-J (Sykes and Jackson), which also stands for Southern Nigga Jamz. They generated a good street buzz with the release of underground mixtapes Drought Season(2002) and Street Heat Vol.1 (2005). B. Sykes has also appeared on several other projects, Craig Groove presents The Big Bam Theory (2007), The Best of Alabama Compilation Vol.1 (2007), Gangsta Island Records Music Hustle 2nd Edition(2007), and most recently the soundtrack for bestselling author Tim Hamton's book "He Held His Own"(2008). Now its 2009, and B is in the process of completing his solo project. He is working with several up and coming producers on his project; Craig "Groove" Stevens who's done work for Nelly, Chris Brown and many others, Kelvin Wooten who's worked with the likes of Anthony Hamilton, The Isley Brothers, Raphael Sadiq, etc. Also supplying more heat to the project are Kwofi of Next Level Ent., Keith Reeves of Polaryzed Ent., Mali Boi of Slowmotion Soundz who produced the hit "Rollin" for Jackie Chain, and Ken P of Ken P Ent. This album will be one of the best releases of 2009 and B.Sykes says "I put that on everything, I'm bringing some real high quality work out of Alabama". Currently Bs hit single,"Ain't She" is gaining lots of momentum in the streets and the clubs thanks to strong dj support. I'm here to represent it right, don't sleep on me man foreal!!!" B's vision is to let the fans get to know him through his music. His main focus is to stay true to himself and the people that matter in his life and letting his music be a reflection of that. Long live the real niggas, B. Sykes on deck!!!
