Besides his parents, aunts and uncles, Bryan's main influences are (in no particular order): Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Paul Simon, Nickel Creek, James Taylor, Counting Crows, Nirvana, John Prine, Weezer, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Outkast, Brewer and Shipley, Dar Williams, The Beatles, Ben Folds, Cake, Jonathan Larson, Sublime, Uncle Tupelo, and Billy Joel... to name a few.
Bryan was raised by a family of musicians in St. Louis. This is something like being raised by wolves, but a little less messy. After a very brief career as a gangster rapper, (BMurph! Holla!) Bryan began writing and performing acoustic rock 'n roll songs. His writing style was largely influenced by singer/songwriters of the 70s and alternative rockers of the 90s. Bryan's love of bluegrass and alt. country helped him bond with local performing songwriter Pierce Crask, with whom he plays mandolin at least once a week. Bryan enjoys long walks on the beach, tight leather pants, and the color blue.
Cabin Inn has reopened at the City Museum and is currently looking for musicians to play acoustic sets on thurs. and fri. nights. just thought I'd pass that along..
thank you, I'm sorry I missed the potluck, I'm sure it was fun as well. Max was crabby though.. it wouldn't have been fun for me. I'll see you around, sooner than later hopefully =)
I need some more business cards from you. Are you interested in doing a gig down at the O'Fallon J.Buck's? They're trying to book someone for March 28.
Happy Marriage! Sorry I missed yer bachelor party... short notice is a biaitch. But regardless, may all your days to come be filled with joy and happiness, blah blah, etc. etc. But, really, congrats my friend. Hope to see you soon... whenever you guys come up for air or run out of salt tablets. :D
Bryan, you truly are a special kind of creature. I had no idea that you were so involved with music. I'm so impressed by you! It's amazing what we can do with a little time on our hands... Glad to see you're doing well. If you ever have time, you should check out my cousins' music, I think you would like it. Search for "myteakind". Peace. :)
BRYAN, how's it going boy??? I was gonna call you and talk about the birthday,, it's not till sept. but I like to get a head start on things, why don't you e-mail me with some prices.......... ~sas
"I Will Survive" was awesome last night, you should add a couple more wait-is-he-playing-what-I-think-he's-playing tunes like that to your set. My old band used to do a country version of 'Love Vigilantes' by New Order, which would be great if you had Steve on bass. Glad you liked the CD.
I have to be in Columbia for work on the 15th.....but I'll try and make it to the next Happy Hour. Gonna try and get out for on a Tuesday night as well.
