About me:
Hey everyone, the photos are now in the photos section and not on the main page for privacy reasons. So if you want to see our handsomeness for yourselves, you'll just have to be our friend!

Please note that if you try to add our group as a friend, and you do not either a) indicate in your add request why you are interested in being our friend, or b) your profile doesn't make it clear that you are trans or a trans ally, you probably won't be added. It's nothing personal, it's just for privacy for our members.

The BTMA is a group for FTMs, transmen, and gender variant or questioning female-born persons. We meet every fourth Saturday from 6 to 8 PM in room 202 of the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Baltimore to dicuss physical, emotional, social, and legal aspects of transition.

The BTMA group also regularly hosts guest speakers, movie nights, and other special events.

We welcome you in all stages of transition, including those who have not yet had, or who have chosen not to have, hormonal or surgical changes. We welcome all female-born persons regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other factor. We also welcome significant others, friends, and family.

Do you live in Baltimore, or are you new here or visiting? Why not join us for our next meeting? We look forward to seeing you!

Who I'd like to meet:
Baltimore and area FTMs!

Also...

* Trans (especially FTM) doctors, scholars, film-makers, authors, musicians, activists, or just average Joes with good stories to tell - want to come speak to our group? We especially encourage local folks to get in touch, but small honorariums may be available through the GLCCB to cover your travel and accomodation expenses if you are an out-of-towner who would like to come and give a trans-related presentation. Extra-special encouragement to touring authors, musicians, and film-makers, as we can potentially hold promotional events for you at the GLCCB.

* Any non-trans expert on trans issues is also welcome to contact us, with the same potential honorariums available to you for your time.

FTM Book Vol. 1 = OUT NOW!!!!!

About FTM Book Vol. 1
FTM Book Vol 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life is an easy-to-understand, yet comprehensive primer on FTM issues such as:

What is an FTM?
How do FTMs see themselves?
Appearance
Stages in Transition
Surgeries Available
Common Personal Histories
Violence
Discrimination
Health Issues
Counseling
Relationships
Common Legal Issues

We've worked hard to help create definitions that will help you talk about trans issues with others, including terms for body parts unique to the FTM and by naming the stages of transitioning. This book is great for anyone who who is having trouble understanding the lifestyle or choices of a transperson. When we first began dating, we were shocked that there was no one place that he (Aaron) could turn to show me (Crystal) "See, this explains what being an FTM means." We hope that this book will be a good start.

Best of all, when you order FTM Book Vol. 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life you can feel good knowing that sales of the book are being used to fund more research to help FTMs and their partners get through the challenges of their lives. This is a great book for youself and for anyone you know who could use a little more understanding. Also, you can help teach others about trans issues by donating copies to your local high schools, colleges, LGBT centers and libraries.

FTM Book Vol. 2 is also in the works (more focus on relationship issues etc), as well as a few other things to be announced...
STOP Same Sex Abuse

STOP Same Sex Abuse

About this page:
I have been very active in Domestic Violence causes all of my adult life. I noticed a need in the world pertaining to Same Sex Domestic Violence. It happens more than people know. Unfortunately there is a number of gay people who barely consider themselves worthy or valued as a gay person much less a Domestic Violence Victim. There is also very limited resources, statistics, or information, for Same Sex Domestic Violence. Hopefully through empowerment and education we can change some of this.
