Bikers United Against Child Abuse
Exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children. We exist as a body of Bikers to empower children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live. We are ready to lend support to our children by involving them with an established, united organization. We desire to send a clear message to all involved with the abused child that this child is part of our organization and that we are prepared to lend our support to them by affiliation and our physical presence. We stand at the ready to shield these children from further abuse.
Bikers United Against Child Abuse (BUACA) was founded in 2001 when it was realized that there was a need to assist abused children and to help raise awareness of their plight in Australia. In 2003, the club began to gather momentum and a group of like minded bikers joined together to commit themselves in providing assistance to children who have suffered abuse and to also raise much needed funds for organizations involved in assisting the children and affected families on a professional basis.
We are child support focused. We are not a vigilante group. We do not search out and hunt down offenders, nor do we pursue those who are under suspicion of hurting children. Our Members consist of ordinary people who love their bikes and their kids. We can be business owners, doctors, lawyers, sales people, mechanics, computer techs and others from all walks of life that share one common bond ... the love and protection of our Nation's children. The purpose of the Club is to lend assistance to children where cases of abuse are bought to our attention and to foster a brotherhood dedicated to motorcycle riding.
Bikers United Against Child Abuse put together Buddy Runs for kids who are currently going through the court process or who have been subject to abuse in its many forms. Its a way for us bikers to meet abused kids and show them that as a group we can be their mates in times of need and also show them protection from further abuse by our mere presence. We offer Buddy Runs to any child who has been referred to us. With the help of many sponsors we can also shower the kids with gifts and vouchers to help make their day with us memorable and show the kids how important they are to us. Some of the items needed by our club to make their day memorable are gift vouchers and money to help pay for amusements on the day. Also volunteers are needed to help make the day a success. If you would like to help please contact us and we will make sure you can become involved. All bikers who participate in taking the children for the ride are registered as blue card holders and are experienced carers of children.
Request a Biker Buddy Run
If you think you may know of a child who has suffered child abuse or may be at risk of child abuse, then please do not hesitate to contact us no matter what part of Australia you live, and we will endeavour to include the child in our buddy run. Children who have been selected to participate in the run are given a date our club has organised to hold the run and are asked to be at our club house at a predesignated time. If they do not have transport we will have the child/children picked up by one of our club members or by our support crew. Upon arriving at the club house the child/children are given a BUACA support Pack consisting of a BUACA Buddy shirt, patch and other merchandise. We then take the child on a run with all the bikes in a pack to a park about 1 hrs ride away where we stop for a break before returning to the club house. We then have activities for all the kids as well as bags of goodies supplied by our sponsors. Our aim is to shower the kids and families with gifts and vouchers so their pain and suffering will be alleviated just a bit, hoping that it gives these families the strength to continue the fight that normally lies ahead when confronting those that abuse our kids.
Please email us kennesaw@hotkey.net.au or ph us direct 0415691603 to organise a Buddy run for your child
life is all about changes; you have to learn to improvise when it doesn't go according to plan. Sometimes we have to be the ones to implement changes in our lives in order to find something better than what we left behind in our past. If it's one thing I've learned on my journey of healing, it's that just because we may be traveling on one road doesn't mean it's the one that will take us to where we need to be. To get to where we want to be in life, sometimes we have to change roads and travel down a new path that will lead us there. As long as we remain focused in the work we are doing and believe in ourselves, as long as we keep a fighting spirit and positive attitude along with an open mind, then we will continue to advance even further in life, finding all sorts of opportunities waiting for us. But we'll never know what is out there waiting for us if we don't take the first step to getting out there and making something our lives as we rebuild them piece by piece.
