Bubblegum Lemonade formed in Glasgow as a vehicle for the indie pop recordings of Lawrence "Laz" McCluskey. Deriving the project's name from the title of a Mama Cass album, McCluskey's project is rooted in bubblegum pop and jangly groups like Talulah Gosh and Primal Scream. Bubblegum Lemonade's debut EP, was released on Matinée Recordings in early 2008; a second EP, Susan's in the Sky, followed in the summer of that year. Their debut album, Doubleplusgood, was released in November 2008.

Laz plays all instruments.
