m@ the c@ I'll be your faithful hero... after I take this nap!

Other projects and bands:
Ultra Death Men (frantic experimental and math-rock trio where I am the only one without a masters degree in jazz)
Frame House (a two man shoegaze/indie-ish band with a bit of an aggressive edge. Currently recording a CD and looking for a guitarist, drummer, and keyboard player for shows!!)
Black Alaskan (an electronic acidpop duo. Far more accessible than anything else I do! Currently recording an album)
The Rew-mi-ref-rots (extreme grinding mathspazz noise rock project; currently solo; future unknown)
Giggle The Ozone. (Avant-rock/zolo/who knows what from the mind of author/artist/musician Dylan Sparrow. I have filled in for the bassist, who is currently taking care of his new born child)
c@ (totally fucked experimental noise/digigrind project that has transformed into an avant-garde mess that I'm finally proud of)
Fork Sister (a healthy dose of punk, thrash, power violence, grindcore, and noise rock dipped in lo-fi DHR-esque electronics with a sprinkle of dance sensibility)
Black Clocks (party oriented digigrind I made prior to knowing such a thing as digigrind existed; my first solo project)
yamiwosukasu (first experiment with melodic MIDI programming, also had some ambient digigrind songs, again made without knowing of such a thing. Songs could potentially be scattered around the internets, but it's not worth it)
First Aid Squid (burlesque digigrind. All of the stupid vocals were recorded first to a metronome, then I made MIDI for them)
Rage-a-holic Tortise (my first electronic project ever. Two man "experimental ambient/harsh noise/spoken word/hardcore" project that featured guests. It was one of my favorite things to work with... ever)
I Am A Hexagon (goregrind parody, brought to you by my douche bag alter ego Todd Denniston)
The Cuddle Sluts (me + teddy from Ultra Cutez. Sounded like First Aid Squid)
Pie Taster Telethon (another duo. breakcore/pop from the mind of DigiDan of The Lucky Constrictors/PATP/etc. I have no idea when we'll have anything finalized)
Hurricane Metal (hair metal/cock rock alter ego of Frame House. I should make a myspace for us...)
Awful Throats (whack-ass "noisecore"/grind/faux-anime soundtrack music featuring Casey of Stress/Yatagarasu on bass and Chris of Yatagarasu/Hexcrusher on vocals, keys, and SID-synth)
I often make these short lists hoping it gives you an idea, but the truth is that no list can ever explain where the inspiration comes from. I think hearing new music (of any style) is just as important to my development and inspiration as my idols are, just as new events and new people are just as important as sticking with the people I know and love.

Sounds Like
I like music that takes you somewhere else beyond where you are before you start listening. I want my sound to take you to the clouds, underground, through space, under water, through cities and the country.
I strive to rekindle the spirit of the almost dead child within me. Melodies that uplift the spirit; that overpowering bliss and weightlessness that makes your stomach twist into knots and steals your breath like a first love, but with the perversity of getting there with MDMA. I want to convey the menial intensity of a final boss fight. How It might not mean too much later, but until it's over, you'll be biting your nails, jumping out of your seat, and praying that everything works out.
I want to make music that you love or hate immediately; music that makes you fall in love, or that repulses and irritates you to the point of physical illness. I want immediate results of an opinion that comes to further realizations only upon deeper listening.
I want to express everything about myself. I want to show everyone who listens both the irrational idealist and the bitter and cynical bastard. I want to let all the screaming in my head, all the irrational over-the-shoulder peeking I do, the dialogues I have alone, the years of not fitting into any clique or scene by choice and by instinct, to all come out in the open and be okay.
I want to make myself laugh and become giddy as much as I want to make myself cry or become bitter. My music is overly paradoxical, but I like it that way. What you hear in it is up to you, but this is a fraction of what this madness means to me.

Everything I do in this project is a tribute to my past; a way to cope with the disappointing ephemerality of childhood and innocence.
It is self referential worship music to the things I love and loved; to the things I hate and hated.
The music is about putting a stop to my natural instinct to replace reality with more convenient fantasies.
It's about using the imagination and the time I've spent living in pixelated and animated worlds to make something tangible and meaningful; something that can't just be turned off or reset when things aren't going as planned. ------------------------
Above all else though, the music is about embracing the meaninglessness of life and enjoying it for what it is. ------------------------
The project is based heavily in various softwares and the power/weakness of my voice, with the aid of real instruments, circuit bent toys, and hardware electronics, and all of the music is 100% of my own creation.
I am more than willing to discuss my processes with anyone who wants help or just wants to know what it is I spend so much time on.
Contrary to popular misconception, I'm really quite easy to talk to these days!
Live shows have become an integral part of this project as of recent. •••••• If you want to book me for something, please send me a message with the date and location in the subject or send an email to : realjazzycat(at)comcast(dot)net (I like shows where people dance!!!!!) Obligatory History and Discography Section:
Bubblegum Octopus started in the summer of 2005, after two years of other experimental electronic music projects and five years of toying with electronic music in any capacity.
Since then, the project has been promoted exclusively through word of mouth by supporters, sporadic local shows, and, more recently, touring.
(At some point in late 2006 I was ranked 99 for all unsigned myspace artists in all genres... I have no idea how that happened or how it works, but it was pretty cool!)
The project began in the hopes of making music that was a tribute to 70s synth-punk (Screamers, Nervous Gender, etc) but after a few hours it became rather apparent that the actual sound would be nothing similar.
I originally had no intention of showing anyone except for a few friends, but, due to the wonders of instant messenger, I was unable to send files to them and had to show them with a myspace page. Positive reactions made me wonder what some of the fans of my noisier project (c@) would think, so I went and added about thirty of them, and the rest just sort of... happened!
As far as releases go, the project has seen very few, and been on a few compilations that float about the internets.

There are also some other albums I have finished writing but have not recorded/ finished recording (5 of them to be exact).
They will eventually see releases in various forms, and I will be sure to give them dates so you, the loving fan, knows where it exists chronologically!
Just remember to be patient with this stuff! I don't work with a label, I don't work with recording engineers, I don't have a producer, I don't live alone, and I don't even have a soundproofed room to record in! :D
My recording time as of now is dictated entirely by the availability of time and space, and by the willingness of my pets and neighborhood to remain quiet.
THERE IT ALL IS! I love you!
(sorry about the lack of pretty html, I'll have it some day...)
