...Harrisonburg, Virginia. The first band to play was Buzz Gooter. The place got pretty packed by the time we played. People were nice. For a rock outfit, Billy Brett and Terry Turtle are an odd couple. Never mind that Turtle, 54, has three decades on Brett, 20, or that their band, Buck Gooter, plays punk with a theremin and a drum machine. Today, however, they’ve decided to record. Buck Gooter eventually chooses to make an 11-song “live” album, forgoing polished singles for a full-length recording intended for direct release. Then play these Gooter Buck, and the situation falls. At least we have the recording. Buck Gooter
Comprised of friends Terry Turtle on guitar and vocals and multi-instrumentalist Billy Brett, Buck Gooter’s avant-garde rock features the eerie sounds of a Theremin with drum machine beats and distorted guitar for a sound that combines punk energy and psychedelic freak outs.
While the band spends lots of time recording and experimenting, Brett says that he and Turtle enjoy playing live the most.
“It’s really awful to not play shows,” said Brett. To preview the band’s music, click to www.buckgooter.tk
