Rich in tradition, Fire Fest is a festival dedicated to Firefighters. The Buda Fire Department uses Fire Fest as a tribute to all firefighters and there families. Firefighters risk there lives everyday to save the lives of the people trapped in flash floods, stranded in burning buildings, and hurt in tragic accidents. Fire personnel deserve a thank you. Fire Fest is a yearly tribute to the firefighters of Texas. Last year we had participants from Round Rock, Pflugerville, Austin, Buda, Kyle, Waco, Killeen and many other Central Texas fire departments. Over 4000 people came from Corpus Christi to the Panhandle of Oklahoma to show there appreciation in 2005. The event keeps growing stronger every year.
Fire Fest has many exciting elements; the chili cook-off, coloring contest for kids, pie eating contest, the excellent nightly entertainment, and the ultimate firefighter challenge. The entertainment is a way for us to say thank you, to all the Firefighters and show appreciation through the recreation of the band. The ultimate firefighter challenge is a way for the firefighters to show the public how much strength, stamina and guts it takes to take on the call of duty and become a firefighter.
