Aside from hanging out with my wife and kids I love making art and reading comic books, or any other sort of books, I am a geek. I also draw naked women as often I can. I like spending my time and money in the city of Detroit; I love Detroit and its history and architecture. Oh yea, along with Egyokeo, I created and write the world famous website www.YouMustChoose.com which is fucked up in a wonderous smiley way and beacuse of it, I have had the honor of Howard Stern calling me "stupid", on air (he didn't undertsand how to play the website game). I am a fan of gin...
Music
Bob Gentry, Iggy Pop / The Stooges, Regina Spektor, The Flight of the Conchords, Bonnie "Prince" Billy (Will Oldham), Joanna Newsom, Dead Confederate, Cat Power, Bettie Serveert, the Residents, Diana Krall, Moisture, Mos Def, The Beatles, Aimee Mann, The Mountain Goats, David Bowie, Murder by Death, Kanye West (oddly enough) and countless others. I love 1950's jazz and more specifically jazz piano (McCoy Tyner, Monk, Brubeck, etc) and I love most classic rock, especially that crappy 1970's singer/songwriter stuff...it is the bomb!
Movies
Sci-fi stuff, comedies and revenge based movies. Star Wars, and anything by Wes Anderson or Woody Allen seems to be good. OH YEA! I love PORN!
Television
Flight of the Conchords, 30 Rock, Boston Legal, Dexter, Lost, Heroes, MythBusters, Three Sheets...um...I can't come up with anything else right now. I hate cheese though. I can't really emphasize that enough. I hate it.
Books
Whare to begin? I have about 3,000 comics and buy new ones every week. When it comes to books other than comics I am a non-fiction geek. I like Richard Dawkins a lot, evolutionary biology as well as quantum physics stuff, I like studying Buddhist teachings (Pema Chodren, Thich Nhat Hanh), I love collecting rare and old religious texts and books about religious history. Books about the history of Detroit are also a favorite.
Heroes
Anyone who can say they are honestly happy with themselves and their lives.
About me: I am a father, an artist, a work-a-holic, a left-wing-liberal-whacko, musician, a husband and a know-it-all smartass who is prone to depression and is also continually trying and mostly failing at practicing Buddhism...that pretty much sums it up.
Who I'd like to meet: Other people in the Detroit arts scene as well as everyone I knew when I was growing up. I love making friends and reconnecting with old friends.
If I had to pick one musician, James Newell Osterburg
Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
