I have been singing and playing for 46 yrs. I began as a singer and started to tour at age 13. I played a lot of black clubs in a heavily segregated South. These were mainly bars downstairs and brothels upstairs. I toured extensively thru the 1960's & 70's including shows at Carnegie Hall, both Fillmores ( east and west), and many Ballrooms and theatres throughout America. The Buddy Owen Band released 2 albums and a single in the seventies and early eighties. In the 1980's I formed an eleven piece band, which included my daughter Mundai. Continuing to tour and releasing the album Buddy Owen & the Band Of Angels.
The past three years we have been a three piece band which includes my drummer of the last 16 years Ernest "Boom" Carter, original "E" Street Band drummer (Born to Run). We continue to play and record and are currently working on a new C.D.
Recently I have added Ian Lamson - guitar, and Rich Smith - keyboards to the band. Also my son, Tony Owen,(guitarist from The Greenroom), occasionaly plays with me.
