Bugbear Bookings have been providing a platform for young up and coming acts since 1996, obstensibly at Camden Town's legendary Dublin Castle [ancestral seat of Madness, Blur and Travis] and Islington's sweatiest RocknRoll retreat The Hope and Anchor [former punk rock saloon bar none!].
Jointly run by Jim Mattison [ex of The Hinnies] and Tony Gleed [err, The Flying Monks] Bugbear understands the needs and desires of the thrusting young guitar slinger and microphone manipulator.<
As we provide anywhere between 30 and 40 slots per week in our venues we are freed up to book bands from right across the country, indeed the world.
Recent acts to have performed early shows under Bugbear before going on to be big big big include The Libertines, Hope of the States, Gillian Welch and The Cooper Temple Clause.
And keep yer peepers peeled for the next vintage being laid down prior to corkage from Bugbear's sassy cellar... Maximo Park, Twisted Charm, Special Needs, The FutureHeads, White Rose Movement, 28 Costumes, Art Brut, ET BLINKIN' CETERA!!!!!!!!-all trod our boards and lived to tell the tale. .
Artists interested in playing for Bugbear can forward cds to our offices [Bugbear Promotions, 3a Highbury Crescent, London, N5 1RN] and can generally buy us foaming pints of ale in a wide cross section of London hostelries.
Fear not as we always pay our performers so long as they garner enough support on the night of their performance. Pay to play has no place within our philosophy-as former stuggling musicians we appreciate all too well how much it's costing you already once you've bought yer temperamental gear, paid for yer rain soaked rehearsal space and filled yer rust enhanced van up with petrol.
We also maintain arse kicking state of the art PA systems and provide essential post gig DJ action to help give punter and performer alike a rounded and coooool evening of entertainment.
Needless to say The Dublin Castle and The Hope and Anchor are highly esteemed platforms for new talent to reach friends, fans and A and R men alike.

We have put a new song up for you, it’s only a rough demo which hasn’t really been mixed well and hasn’t been produced but it will give you a taster of what may come next in our next recording sessions which we are trying to set before Christmas.

A new night of heavy live sounds and DJs to match in a new venue as dark and loud as necsary.
Next NHS features the mighty FRAFF and it's on SUNDAY 25TH OCTOBER.
Following the storming first night of New Heavy Sounds in September (with the marvellous BO-NINGEN headlining), we're super excited about the next NHS night, with zombie-baiting wonders CHICKENHAWK supported by the brilliant heavy garage of BAD FOR LAZARUS, the tight'n'heavy FRAFF and Cardiff's great STRANGE NEWS FROM ANOTHER STAR.
