I've heard the crack of rifles
I've heard the Bugle's cry
I've seen the tears flow down the cheeks
Of those who say good-bye...
To their Fallen Warrior
The honor guard's my place to be
To comfort those who mourn
But still the sadness fills my heart
Each time I hear the horn...
For a Fallen Warrior
They fought the wars that kept me free
And now I will repay
To them the honor they deserve
For Taps will end the day...
Of a Fallen Warrior
Honor, respect, and dignity
They earned this much and more
A last salute we give to them
To those who go before ...
Our Fallen Warriors
My duty's done, my heart feels right
That I have filled a need
Somewhere a family will recall
A guardsman's caring deed ...
To their Fallen Warrior
Tomorrow though it's time again
To hear the bugle's cry
And hear the guns and see the tears
As our nation says good-bye ...
To them, Our Fallen Warriors

"Bugles Across America" is an organization of nearly 6,000 Volunteer Buglers from ALL 50 States & Abroad,
DEDICATED to providing LIVE Taps for our Veterans & Fallen.
In January 2000, Congress passed legislation guaranteeing each Veteran the right to at least Two Uniformed Servicemen, a Flag Ceremony, and the Playing of TAPS at their funeral.
Unfortunately, at the rate our veterans are now passing, there are not enough Buglers within our branches of services to meet the needs of providing LIVE Taps for each of our Veterans & Fallen.
Often, the historic melody, Taps is now played for many Veterans' last Ceremony, either on a CD player, or, via the use of a "fake" Bugle with a built in player inside, which plays a recording of Taps, and, sadly, at times ... has even failed to play, or, has stopped in the middle.
Former Marine, Tom Day decided that wasn't good enough for those who had sacrificed so much for their country.
November of 2000, Tom Day founded
"Bugles Across America", with the goal of providing TAPS played LIVE by a Volunteer Bugler at EVERY Veteran's funeral, a final "Last Salute" to our nation's veterans.
The Department of Veterans Affairs is expecting more than 1/2 million veterans to pass every year, for the next 7 years.

During Navy Seal, Petty Officer Second Class
Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego, as his coffin was being moved from the hearse to the grave site at
Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, Navy SEALs were lined up on both sides of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's, with the coffin moving up the center.
As Mike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.
The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it. This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.

" A River of Freedom " - ( Taps )
There's a river ... that floods ... my soul.
And, that ... " River of Freedom "
It carries ... my blood,
And, of those ... throughout all time
Who, for Freedom, Gave their blood
Laid their lives ... on the line.

I know most Honor Our Fallen on the last Monday in May... but in our home May 30th was the day in which we Honored them. My dad was a WWII Veteran... and just because those in Congress took it upon themselves to change the date to make Memorial Day into a three-day weekend... made know difference to my dad. They could change it to whatever they wanted... but for him... Memorial Day would always be May 30th. And in being his daughter and being like-minded as him in so many ways... and in having this day always be the day in which we Honored Our Fallen. I have continued to do so even though he has been gone longer than my heart and mind wishes to dwell. He lays beside my brother... both receiving flowers on the 30th of May in Honor of their service.
To the men and women who gave their all... who believed in something greater than self... and sacrificed so others may be free... to live free... and all that entails. I Honor you this day and remember all that is great in the country in which I live because you made it possible for me to live it.
The combat boots are empty and finally they're still, They're set carefully at attention, they've marched up their last hill.
The rifle, too, is silent now and unwaveringly erected, Holding up the well-worn helmet of the Marine it once protected.
One by one his comrades somberly draw near, Each raising one last salute unashamed to shed a tear;
A time-honored tribute, dating back to days of old, As a reverent memorial a stirring image to behold.
It bears witness to the bond of a brotherhood of men, The kind who only come along every now and then.
These men who pass will carry on, they've a mission to complete, For our Country they will fiercely fight, our enemies they'll defeat.
But in his heart after this, no Marine will be the same, A hero is now known to him, and bears his buddy's name.
Wherever duty takes him, whatever battles he may fight, Never will he forget the friend who gave his life for what is right.
Finally, the bugle sounds Taps is softly played, Time to say farewell, and say a prayer for the sacrifices made. This day the names of those who died will be added to the List, They will forever be remembered, and will undeniably be missed.
Next time you see a proud Marine in that uniform he wears, Know his heart is strong and true please keep him in your prayers.
He lives by a vow to protect and defend no matter what the cost, But to every Marine, it carries a name... his buddy who was lost.

Never Forgotten... Ever Honored... Our Battalion Marines
Freedom is not Free... Nor has is ever been. There is always sacrifices made in obtaining it... as there is... in maintaining it. These sacrifices are most often made by those who serve in uniform... and... as well as those who love them.
NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN AND EVER HONORED... IN REMEMBRANCE, IN THOUGHTS, AND IN PRAYERS...
Those who served, Those who are serving today, Those that came home... and those that didn’t.
My country ‘tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty, Of thee I sing. Land where my father died! Land of the Pilgrim’s pride! From ev’ry mountain side, Let freedom ring... My native country thee, Land of the noble free, Thy name I love. I love thy rocks and rills, Thy woods and templed hills; My heart with rapture thrills. Like that above... Let music swell the breeze, And ring from all the trees, Sweet freedoms song. Let mortal tongues awake; Let all that breathes partake; Let rocks their silence break, The sound prolong... Our Father’s God to Thee, Author of liberty, To Thee we sing. Long may our land be bright, With freedoms holy light; Protect us by thy might, Great God, our King... ~ Samuel Frances Smith
– Remembering all who have served, And those that serve today. Remembering those about to deploy, And those deployed. Remembering our fallen, Those that have given the ultimate sacrifice. And... Remembering the sometimes forgotten, The ones that waited at home loving them....
On this Thanksgiving and always I remember with Honor those past and present that have served... and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. I also remember those who waited lovingly for their return.
