Ci sono giorni storti e giorni dritti. Un disco di Bugo serve in entrambi, per movimentarli a dovere.
Dopo aver illustrato il lato lo-fi del vivere, aver vagato tra pop, rock, la famigerata autorialità italiana e le angosce esistenziali contemporanee, Cristan Bugatti riprende le fila della forma-canzone.
È la canzone, infatti, ciò che sta dietro – e pure dentro – Contatti. Non quella a cui siamo abituati, accomodata e accomodante; piuttosto, la scoperta di quante cose si possano fare con un oggetto del genere. Basta avere curiosità, senso dell’avventura, temeraria incoscienza: tutte doti che il Bugatti possiede, in quantità generosa. Se Sguardo contemporaneo si dava in qualche modo al canone, ai suoni più ruvidi e classici, qui il lavoro è compiuto a mano libera, si apre orizzonti inediti senza smettere di essere riconoscibile.
La produzione artistica di Stefano Fontana (dj, produttore, celebre e celebrato per il progetto Stylophonic) ha rimescolato i ruoli degli strumenti. Chitarra, basso e batteria ci sono, ma in mezzo spiffera qualsiasi rumore e qualsiasi ritmo: non si tratta di semplici campionamenti, ma di un soffio vitale che riempie i brani. Così, dall’avvio fulmineo di Posso entrare, un inno post-hippy che arriva fino a noi, come un fantasma, si viene scagliati nell’inferno danzante di C’è crisi, momento di festa e di scongiuro: dappertutto c’è crisi, oppure semplicemente… fa niente.
Spensierato ma non troppo, Bugo affronta l’alienazione dal giro giusto come fosse un party a cui non si è stati invitati, il mito dell’uomo Primitivo inserendolo in un tessuto sonoro di electro-R&B contemporaneo.
La Love Boat di televisiva memoria, intanto, affonda, carica delle delusioni che l’amore si trascina dietro, mentre Le buone maniere non si riescono proprio a insegnare, almeno non a chi reinventa la disco dei Settanta e il rap di oggi per farne il proprio luna park privato.
Non manca il surreale del quotidiano: la ribellione de La mano mia la descrive senza compiacimenti, mentre la Felicità resta insondabile, sommersa da riverberi e rintocchi retroattivi. Balliamo un altro mese è un po’ il ballo dell’impiccato, fatto di mese in mese, nonostante mutui, cambiali e ferite assortite. Lo spazio pacificato di Sesto senso, invece, mostra un Bugo capace di una grande e diretta love song: anche qui, non si rinuncia all'intrusione di ritmiche e lampi sonori, ma tutto si liquefa in poesia.
Assieme a Bugo ci sono alcuni amici fidati: Aldo Nove, che ha scritto con Cristian Balliamo un altro mese, oltre ai musicisti Evandro Cesar Dos Reis dell'Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio e Abdoullai Kader Traoré dell'Orchestra di Via Padova, il fido Ruben Gardella alla batteria, Roberto Baldi alle tastiere, Beatrice Antolini al piano, Elisabetta e Zenima alle voci. Il disco è stato registrato e mixato a Milano, al Waveforms Studio, e masterizzato allo Sterling Sound Studio di New York.
Contatti è l'anima curiosa di uno degli artisti pop meno definibili degli ultimi dieci anni. La sua vera storia è appena cominciata.
There are ups and downs in everyone's life. Bugo's record serves both by giving them a move.
After showing life's lo-fi, after strolling through pop, rock italian authoriality and contemporary existence pains, Cristian Bugatti turns back to the form of song.
What lies behind - and inside - Contatti is in fact song itself. Not the one we're used to, easy and easy-going: it's rather a discovery of the variety of things you can do with a song. You only need curiosity, feeling for adventure, rash recklessness: all qualities Bugatti can rely on, and lavishly. While Sguardo contemporaneo had a rather classic approach, featuring rough sounds, in this work he presents a free-hand drawing, opening up new perspectives without losing his characteristic imprint.
Stefano Fontana's artistic production has combined in a different fashion the instrument's roles (Stefano Fontana is a famous and acknoledged dj and producer, well known for his Stylophonc project). Guitar, bass and drums are there, but amidst them appear all kind of sounds and rythms: they are not mere samplings, but a vital breath filling the tracks. After the sudden start of Posso entrare, a post-hippy anthem touching us as a ghost, we are thrown in the dancing hell of C'è crisi, a moment of celebration and spell: dappertutto c'è crisi, oppure semplicemente... fa niente.
Moderately light-hearted, Bugo faces alienation from the right sphere as if it were a party where he's not invited, the myth of Primitive man embedded in a sound structure of contemporary electro R&B.
Meanwhile, the Love Boat tv show of the Eighties sinks, along with all love deceit, while Le buone maniere (Good manners) are hard to teach, but not to those who reinvent the Seventies' disco and today's rap to make them their own private fun-fair.
The surreal dimension of everyday life is also represented: the rebellion of La mano mia describes it without complacency, whereas Felicità remains incomprehensible, submerged in retroactive reflections and tolls. Balliamo un altro mese is a sort of dance of death, where month after month people cope with their loans, bills and mixed wounds. Sesto senso, on the other hand, shows Bugo as a great love singer: once again there are here different rythms and sound flashes, but in the end all melts together to form poetry.
The album was recorded and mixed in Milan and masterized at the Sterling Sound Studio in New York.
Contatti is the curious soul of one of the less definable pop artists of the last ten years. His true story has only just begun.

Che i LEBOWSKI siano quattro sbandati (ok, si può dire cazzoni?!) che interpretano la musica con spirito goliardico, si poteva già intuire dal titolo scioglilingua del loro primo album "The Best Love Songs Of The Love For The Songs and The Best" uscito indipendente a fine 2008 per la Valvolare Records e prodotto da Giulio “Ragno” Favero. Con questa premessa si capisce come il primo singolo della band "Casa Comenji" esca "subito a ridosso" giusto un anno dopo, nel 2009. D'altronde la tempistica record ha permesso al gruppo di realizzare un fantastico videoclip con tecnica ad animazione mista con il popolare regista Stefano Poletti (già autore per Baustelle, Nek e molti altri). L’occasione è perfetta per festeggiare l’arrivo del singolo e dell’album sui principali portali digitali (itunes etc.).
