Bugs in Amber began as a 5 piece acoutic project in the fall of 1996, with Sonny Votolato (vox,guitar) / Dave E. Martin (keys) / Mark Johnson (guitar) / Seth Warren (violin) and Rudy Gajadhar (drums). The acoustic theme carried for around three months until we decided volume was needed to fully express the songs. Jared Sutton was added on Bass in early 1997 to make BIA a full on rock band. Later in 1998, Gigi Catanzariti was added on flute to make Bugs a 7 piece rock-n-roll orchestra. In 2000 we parted some ways and decided to strip down to a 4 piece with Sonny, Dave, Rudy and newfound Paul Pugliese (from local Punk band, Go Fight Win) on bass. We went on a couple small tours and slowly went into hibernation as other musical projects came into play: Slender Means, Blue Checkered Record Player, and Gatsby's American Dream. Slender Means (still going strong) formed in 2003 with Sonny and Josh Dawson (former bandmates of early 90's 'Fields of Mars'), Dave , Paul and drummer Eric Wennberg. BCRP(also current) is an acoustic project based on Sonny's solo material, quite often joined by many talented musical friends. Gatsby's American Dream which Rudy joined in 2003, has since decided to call it quits after years of extensive touring.
So BUGS IN AMBER. We play music to play music. We individually have moved around a musical scene for years without a set date of disposal. We have been on haitus for 4 years but are really excited to come together for another show. We will be playing a conglomerate of tunes chosen from any and all of our catalog to hopefully bring a good mix to the table. We hope you make it out Aug 8th to revisit the music with us. <3 BIA
