Hi! I'm Bugs and I have been playing drums profesionally for over 15 years; 8 of those (1997-2005) with an alternative rock band from Monterrey, Mexico by the name of JUMBO. We released 4 CD's with BMG/RCA: Restaurant (1999), DD y Ponle Play (2001), Teleparque (2003), and Gran Panoramico (2005); which led us to tour extensively throughout Mexico, USA and Central America. I am also a Yamaha drumset artist (since 2002) and an active clinician whose credits include Yamaha Groove All Stars 2008, Expo Soundcheck 2005, Yamaha's Groove Night 2003, and work alongside internationally acclaimed drum artist Dave Weckl. Finally, although I was born and raised in Mexico, my influences are 100% rooted in all forms of american music. Influenze
My influences today range from rock to instrumental jazz and fusion. I admire, respect and continue to study the work and legacy of drummers like Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, Billy Cobham, Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dennis Chambers, Steve Smith, Dave Weckl, Gregg Bissonette, Gary Novak, Russ Miller, Bill Stewart, Marvin "Smitty" Smith, Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez, Keith Carlock, Thomas Lang, Virgil Donati, Josh Freese, Abe Laboriel Jr., Curt Bisquera, Steve Hass, Dafnis Prieto, and Glenn Kotche, to name a few. As far as instrumentalists, i'm in awe of the music of Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and contemporary jazz artists like Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Michel Camilo, Pat Metheny, Allan Holdsworth, John Mclaughlin, John Scofield, Michael Brecker, Jeff Beal, Robben Ford and Brad Mehldau.

As of 2006, I was invited to join Monterrey, Mexico-based, electronic-rock act "Plastilina Mosh" (NEW Cd coming out in 2009). I've also been a part of the pop-rock quintet for singer/actress "Carina Ricco"; and of the 12-piece big band for mexican pop sensation, "Reyli". During 2005-2006 I freelanced as a member of "Pastilla", LA's premier "Rock en Español" band; and "Scott Fisher & 1a.m. Approach", a pop/jazz outfit which features singer/songwriter Scott Fisher on lead vocals and keyboards and Bob Dunham on lead guitar, hailing from Portland, OR (NEW album, "Step Into The Future" in stores NOW).

ROBO DE INSTRUMENTOS....VOLOVAN
Irapuato, Guanajuato, 31 de Octubre
El día de hoy Sábado 31 de
Octubre en la ciudad de Irapuato, Guanajuato, sufrimos el robo de todos
nuestros instrumentos musicales y equipo de audio con un valor
aproximado total de US$12,000 dólares, mismos que fueron sustraídos de
la camioneta que nos transportaba del hotel en que se hospedaban, hacia
el inmueble donde realizaríamos la prueba de sonido previa al show que
presentaremos hoy por la noche en el inmueble de nombre Kongo Club.
El
incidente sucedió entre 3:00 y 4:00 PM hora local en el estacionamiento
del Hotel City Express Irapuato, ubicado en Blvd. Villas de Irapuato
1362, Col. Ejido Irapuato en Irapuato, Guanajuato [ Tel. (462)606-9800
], y la camioneta de la cual fue extraído el equipo por medio de forzar
la cerradura, es una Van Express de 15 pasajeros color gris con placas
de Nuevo Leon.
El Hotel City Express Irapuato se encuentra
ubicado frente al inmueble Banquetes Marts (que comparte
estacionamiento con el hotel), mismo en el que se vieron por medio de
un video de vigilancia, que durante el lapso de tiempo en que se dio el
robo, se estacionaran y partieran dos camionetas pertenecientes a este
lugar, marca Chevrolet, modelo Vanette, año 1995 con placas GJ-49662 y
GJ-49056 de Guanajuato.
Contamos
