-prayers.ruminations...plain existence. Devotionals is only a moniker set to represent the thing we all do upon our awakening. It is a statement of existence, and the rumination on the "how to" of the everyday breathe.
The band is for the most part Anton Patzner(Judgment Day), Jeff Blair, and Tyson Vogel. Based around the guitar compositions of the latter, Anton invigorates the space with his inspired form of violin mastery and intuition, Jeff percussive sensitivity and heart. Giving a nod of reverence to what has come before in forms of Rachmaninov to John Fahey, to the unknown echos of the street musician, these songs, in form mostly instrumental, represent only the beat of the heart, and the ache to understand.-
the battle and the submission are one...
welcome to Buildings of Heart, i have made this page with the intention of its existence to be sort of a forum, a place of information, an introduction to certain things that have been dictating me and i exhuming...a platform for another direction. i have recently recorded an album and am in the process of weening it from its expansive place within my aching breast to the outside, fresh air. I recorded it all analog with the talented Donny Newenhouse Esq. at Center of the Mile among the circulating multi-culturalism of Capp st., San Francisco. These songs, this project (my life), has been born Devotionals. This page will be dedicated to the path of Devotionals as it is revealed. Expositions in the form of live breathe and song will be posed among these summer days, and in recording... more info to come...
Thank you for your precious time, i will step down from my verbose gallows...
please be well among these days, volatile and/or graceful as they may be.
sincerely,

My attempts to create an Open at the Mama Buzz Cafe have failed. The will be no open mic at the Mama Buzz cafe. The "Every Second Sunday" open mic has been double booked for the second month in a row. It is clear I'm not suited to be the host of an open mic. Thank you all for your interest and support. My sincerest apologies to all musicians poets that hoped and even planned for this open mic.
i was just curious about the photographs on your profile, they're really interesting and i was wondering whether they're just random photos found online or whether they were taken by someone known to you or by yourself?
"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
