Kilkenny Guitarist Follows In The Tracks of Great Train Robbers   Kilkenny native and Engine Alley guitarist Brian Kenealy followed in the tracks of Bond legend Sean Connery when shooting his latest music video.   The video for Brian’s new single ‘General Disrepair’ was shot on the section of disused railway where Sean Connery shot and starred in the 1979 film ‘The Great Train Robbery’.   “Just as we finished shooting, the man who lives in the old station house came out and showed us an old 10x8 photo he’d taken of Sean Connery with his brother on the platform when they were shooting the movie,” Brian explained.   “It adds another dimension to the music video.  It wasn’t something we were expecting to hear about.  Pete Shaughnessy who made the video and picked the location has the cinematographer’s eye, it seems.  And then a couple of weeks later we heard of the death, at age 81, of Bruce Reynolds, the mastermind behind the great train robbery. What does it all mean?”   The video was shot on the old railway line to tie in with the song lyrics, and also features Brian’s son, actor Cal Kenealy.   “ I used him because he’s and actor and he’s young.  Exploit your children.  I didn’t pay him either but I put a few extra chips on his plate at dinnertime.”   ‘General Disrepair’ is the first single released from Brian’s forthcoming album ‘Hiems Transiit’, which takes its name from the motto at Brian’s former school, St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny.   “It’s a phrase I always remember because I walked under it for 5 years.  It’s Latin for “The Winter Has Passed”.  By the time the album is out, I’m expecting an improvement in the weather.
