There just can’t be another who deserves BEST DIRECTOR, BEST SCREENPLAY, or, BEST PICTURE more, than QUENTIN TARANTINO, for INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS….you know ? I certainly do. If there is any way to help manifest that, count me in ! As I have written in other places online already, word of mouth will be the prevailing force to catch and keep the Academy’s eye. The film stands on it’s own. The awards will be given if the voters simply see it. It will change everything in film, shaping with it’s influence the next ten to twenty years to come in cinema. Thank GOD! Or, thank Tarantino !! that something of this caliber (finally) has arrived, to pick up the enormous aesthetic slack and pull us all forward out of inertia, out of apathy, out of a very grey era in film. Quentin Tarntino is divine and essential to our world’s artistic evolution, and I mean our humanity here. As soon as I walked out of that theatre I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt, this film was going to be HUGE. It was huge to me in the watching, With each new layer of story and character unfolding felt on a visceral level, as well as intellectually titillating, every new tidbit of information urging forward some illumination or growth toward learning. Quentin Tarantino is a great teacher, already. I look forward to the day I can peruse his official textbooks…as his man of letters days are not soon forthcoming…? I’m one of those types who believe art can change the world, on every level aspired to in every other approach. Thank you, Mr. Tarantino, for your approach. You shaped my generation in the most beautiful way, and the best is yet to come. I’m a singer/songwriter, and already i have written a response/echo, to the pure miracle that is INGLOURIOUS BASTEREDS. Not that I will tell anyone that. it’s personal, and potent and powerful, just 21 seconds of crescendo in a song i had already written in June.
