The "Buried in The Blues" 2008 Calendar is the first of its kind. It’s not just another music calendar filled with the birthdays of famous musicians – it is, rather, chock full of the death dates of the
artists as well. Why? Because, not only were these artists responsible for changing the course of music as we know it during their lives, but so influential were they
that their music has lived on long after their death. Many of these artists sadly, were so poor that their graves remain unmarked to this day.
The calendar is the product of over a decade of research by Steve Salter, owner and operator of Killer Blues, a portable music store of Blues related CD's and merchandise. Steve has traveled extensively throughout the American Midwest and Mississippi Delta, recording his travels and visiting the graves of blues musicians from Chicago to Clarksdale to Helena and beyond. Steve was instrumental in obtaining headstones for both Otis Spann and Hound Dog Taylor, just two of many famous blues musicians who were buried in unmarked graves. Now, the mission continues with the release of the Buried in The Blues 2008 Music Calendar. Each month features a photo of a deceased blues musician's headstone, a quote by the artist, and nearly every date includes birth and/or death dates of various blues artists! This is a calendar that no blues lover should do without! Hang it in the office, the rehearsal space or your studio! Keep the Blues alive by supporting this ongoing effort to recognize the musicians who have given their lives to the Blues!
The profits from the sales of this calendar will go towards purchasing proper markers for those blues men and women who lie in unmarked graves. To obtain your copy of the 2008 Buried in The Blues Calendar, visit our website at: www.killerblues.net.
