For many years the Burkhart Underground has existed as a cultural institution, offering a much needed alterantive to corporate sensibilty. Yet it exists in both worlds, being fequented by "young people" taking advantage of the educations afforded them by their parents and society, but at the same time delving beneath the surface -- underground -- to explore the long list of memories recorded in the earth by our unknown predecessors, the unheard multitudes that preceded us and gave rise to community.
Any artist is welcome here, regardless of discipline or genre. United -- or not -- we give shape and substance to our universe, to this miraculous awareness that surround us, through each of our individual understandings.
The Burkhart Underground is also here to catch the overflow of musicians and bands that apply to Fred Burkhart for My Space Friendship. If I don't personally know you, then this is where you end up. However... if I also know you, then you are good for both spaces! Sounds fair to me.

About me: The Burkhart Underground was conceived as a family and a trust. It grew out of the home that was created 20 years ago at the birth of Trinity Valentine Burkhart on North Halsted Street in Chicago. The establishment of the Burkhart Underground is the realization of a continuous prayer for Trinity. What you have felt within its walls is the manifestation of a Great Love that was deposited at her birth. Indeed, it is such an awareness that has nurtured and sustained Chicago's ONLY non-commercial, all ages, non smoking, non drinking Music Art Poetry Venue for nearly nine years. Who I'd like to meet: This space is open to everyone - although I am concentrating on profiles with less than 1,000 "friends" - even if I wouldn't want to really meet you. What does it matter what I want? If awareness is to continue to evolve on this planet, then add your music and I will live with it and marvel. But having said that, I am also attempting to add bands of substance that appeal to my own tastes -- before I become completely saturated and overrun by the dozens of obscure entries that just want to strut their noisy selves before they self-destruct. You decide which is which...
