I have teamed up with some of my most talented friends to launch Berlin's first regular burlesque event - La Fête Fatale. Here you will see cabaret shows, live bands, audience interaction, DJs, dance and some bizarre surprises thrown in. She might just need a little help to find out where her talents lye. What kind of qualifications does a woman need to join your classes? No qualifications are needed. She just needs the desire to have fun, enjoy her body, and be prepared to look beyond Dita Von Teese. Burlesque is very trendy, why? Is it because of Dita von Teese? Dita Von Teese has been labelled by the media "Burlesque Queen". As a teacher this becomes very frustrating because people look to her ONLY and they think she invented Burlesque. There is a whole world of very amazing burlesque performers out there doing it just as well if not better than Dita. I would like to believe that Burlesque has become very trendy because men and women enjoy seeing the performers having fun with their sexuality. Burlesque is not degrading or shameful it's creative and entertaining. And the person in control of the show is always the performer herself. She is showing the audience her fantasies brought to life. I also think the style of Burlesque on and off the stage is also something which appeals to a lot of people. The burlesque style or fashion allows women to dress in a sophisticated, feminine and seductive way. This is something which the modern day women has lost with the evolution of the jeans only generation. What does Burlesque mean to you? A chance for women to put aside the stereotypes of what beauty is and show the audience that she is beautiful in her own unique way.
