2 CURE DIABETES MUSIC FEST
Gloria Harris Crowder was all the inspiration her friends needed to put
together The 2 Cure Diabetes Music Fest, a combined effort of The
Mudbucket Band and Burnouts Bar & Gill, official sponsors and
promoters of the fundraiser, who plan to make this an annual event for
all people suffering from this disease. The music fest will be held
from 3 – 10 p.m. April 11 at Burnouts Bar & Grill, 7151 County Road
158 in Saraland. Admission is free. Burnouts Bar & Grill will be
selling plate dinners and there will also be door prizes and raffles.
On hand to help promote the event will be The American Diabetes
Association and some radio and television stations as well. Several
bands will provide live entertainment including The Mudbucket Band,
Johnny Barbato & The Lucky Doggs, Dt’s featuring Darren Hurst &
Tom Rouse, Sloe Gin and Dread. Crowder, who has had Type I Diabetes
since the age of 16, heart problems and has undergone a kidney
transplant and the amputation of two toes, because of her health, lost
her job and health insurance. She now lives with her daughter in
Florida where the surgery will take place. Physicians have agreed to
donate their time, but additional hospital expenses are expected. The 2
Cure Diabetes Music Fest is open to anyone ready to have a good time
and donations are encouraged. Checks should be made out to: WP Davidson
