"I'm not an atheist. There's a really big difference between an atheist and someone who just doesn't believe in religion. Religion to me is a bureaucracy between man and God that I don't need. But I'm not an atheist, no. I believe there's some force. If you want to call it God... I don't believe God is a single parent who writes books"
- Bill Maher
David Burns is a singer/songwriter new to the Los Angeles music scene via New York City, southern Illinois and western New York State. His music simultaneously recalls the vocal histrionics of Jeff Buckley, ambient soundscapes of Radiohead, lyrical adeptness of Ani DiFranco and progressive-symphonic-bombast of The Mars Volta. Utilizing a “light and shade” ideology of dynamics inherited from Led Zeppelin, David attempts to create moments where the power of art gives us all a respite from the fear that can overtake our lives.
David Burns Digital Compilation for Free!!
In preparation for my new album, which I am beginning work on in earnest, I have compiled a collection of my favorite recordings of mine over the past few years.
Included on the collection is a cover of Massive Attack's "Teardrop" (which some may know as the theme to "House" on Fox). My wife DeDe requested I cover it, so I decided to record it as a good start to the whole process of creating an album. I invited her to sing on it with me and our puppy Kira inadvertently got in on it, so we are dubbing this track as performed by "The Burns Family Singers."
For those of you whom I have promised music to for... well... years now, here it finally is. I hope to have the new project wrapped up by early spring and hopefully you will hear more soon..
Wow, the new stuff sounds great! The vocals on "Tide" are interesting as is the melody and the kid in the South Bronx in the 1970s picture is classic. Glad to see that you're still around doin' your thang!

Can I just say- I went to high school with this guy! Dave, you sound so GREAT! To repeat abby's question, how do we get our hands (or computers) on your music?

Hi Dave!! It looks like things are going really well for you. Your music sounds great, and still reminds me of the "old" you! :) It would be great to hear from you. All the best, xxoo.
Two obsessions as I recall...Peanuts, and Michael W. Smith...It's so good to hear from you!!! And I think terrorizing is the perfect word, at least for the Dave Burns I remember...
