Burnt Oak Records was started out of a house in Guelph. We all make music and art and do other things together so we gave ourselves a name and kept doing said things. We hope to contribute to a growing grassroots community in Guelph and everywhere we can. We like to silkscreen and sew and make things with our hands.

In the last year we’ve released twelve records, and we are excited to announce the release of our new community mix entitled ‘You and Yours’ (BO 012). This mix contains a number of artists that have released records on Burnt Oak as well as a number of friends that are part of a strong local music scene in Guelph.

Society is trying to control and categorize us: We were born into this life to win the prize, of staying in our designated stations, so we can provide battery power to the ant farm. We keep it running, fast and efficiently, so the rich continue getting richer and the poor continue getting poorer. There are so many things that need to change about the world. If more of us focused on making life rich, instead of wasting our time making money so we can buy into our consumer based, material society; we could create positive global change.
