Burntside was formed in 2006 in a basement near Rockford, Illinois. Originally a three piece consisting of Rob on bass, Dan on Drums, and Shawn doing guitar and vocals. After about three months of playing a live set consisting of cover songs from their favorite old school punk bands, they decided it was time to write and record some original material. About six or eight hours of studio time later they had their first e.p. with three original tunes and a medley of The Misfits "I turned into a martian" and "Vampira". Constant playing out and and aggressive promoting helped the band receive some local attention as a fun, drunk, bar band but nothing to be taken too seriously. Followng several burnt bridges with venue owners, a couple of guitar players, and feuds with local corporate radio stooges, as well as certain other local bands, Burntside's reputation of "never saying sorry" became well known in the region. Sometime around 2007 Dan felt the need for a hiatus from the band and fortune favored the boys in the form of a quick replacement behind the drum kit. Legendary Chicago and Rockford punk icon Al-Axe took over and the band continued on without missing a step. In 2008 the multi-talented Al-Axe got the itch to play guitar. Dan returned to the drums and they began working on new original material. in the winter of that year the fellas once again went to the studio and two days later the main tracks for what was to become the "Going Nowhere, Fast" e.p. were layed down. This record offered a more dynamic version of Burntside with multiple, layered vocals and some tasty lead guitar work. The band is currently hard at work writing new songs, booking shows, promoting, recording and has recently joined forces with Machete Records.
