BIOGRAPHY:
Chicago is called the windy city not because of harsh breezes cascading from Lake Michigan, but because of its raunchy politics. The word "Chicago" translated literally means, "stinking onion" - an endearing term don't you think? Names can be decieving, and in this light, Chicago natives Bury Me At Makeout Creek are no different. While their name originates from a satirical Simpsons reference and alludes to commonality (especially when being from the same city as Simpson stars Fall Out Boy), their music sets them miles apart. Taking influence from a range of artists from Say Anything to Every Time I Die, the band has worked hard and long to develop a sound that is catchy but that stands uncomparable in a now crowded Chicago indie scene. The baby of this process is the bands debut EP, entitled "From Far Away Across The World." The seven-song EP (released in October 2006) tells a tale of its own. Songs like "Sleeping Quarters" and "The Sky, The Sea, The Dream" speak of ambition, hopes, and dreams in a way that makes you want to pack a bandana on a stick and head out into the world. In contrast, the techy "I Beat The Rubix Cube" expels sarcasm and a bit of anger at big-city living and business. Since the EP's release, BMAMC (bee-mam-ka, as their loyalest fans call them) have worked tirelessly on solidifying a Midwest presence. Even the loss of former lead vocalist Simon Bean couldn't slow down the BMAMC brigade as they have toured the Midwest and East Coast - all along the way playing with national artists like 1997, Sherwood, Waking Ashland, A Change Of Pace, The Color Fred, Damiera, and many more. With an enthralling live show, plans for 2008 tours, and a new release, Bury Me At Makeout Creek is out to prove that music can be fun and insightful.
